MOZA Racing

MOZA Racing builds a complete direct drive ecosystem, from entry-level wheelbases through to professional-grade systems, with wheels, pedals, shifters and handbrakes that all work together. Gamer Gear Direct stocks the full MOZA range in Australia, with local warranty support and expert advice before and after you buy.

The MOZA ecosystem

MOZA hardware is designed as one system. Any MOZA steering wheel fits any MOZA wheelbase through a shared quick release, pedals and shifters connect natively across the range, and everything is configured through a single piece of software. You are not locking yourself into a dead end.

That matters most when you upgrade. Most drivers start with a wheelbase and wheel, add load cell pedals when braking becomes the limiting factor, then a shifter or handbrake when they move into rally or touring cars. Each step reuses what you already own.

Direct drive wheelbases

The wheelbase is the foundation of the setup and the part you feel most. MOZA uses servo motors with high-resolution encoders, which means force feedback arrives faster and carries more detail than belt or gear driven alternatives. Kerb strikes, surface texture and the moment a tyre lets go all come through the rim rather than being smoothed away.

The range splits into two families. The numbered bases cover entry level through to enthusiast use and quote peak torque. The Ultra line is built for sustained output, holding its rated torque through long stints rather than peaking and backing off, which is what separates it in endurance running.

Which MOZA wheelbase is right for you?

Torque figures below are as published by MOZA. Note that the numbered bases are quoted as peak torque and the Ultra line as sustained torque, so the two are not directly comparable.

Wheelbase Torque Best for Standout feature Where to start
R3 3.9Nm peak First direct drive setup, Xbox racers Officially licensed for Xbox MOZA R3 Bundle
R5 5.5Nm peak Entry to mid racers, truck sim drivers Compact enough to desk mount MOZA R5 Bundle
R9 9Nm peak Mid range sim racers, the most popular choice High resolution encoder MOZA R9 Bundle
R12 12Nm peak Enthusiast racers running longer stints Active cooling MOZA R12 Bundle
R16 Ultra 16Nm sustained Experienced racers stepping up to the Ultra line Sustained rather than peak output MOZA R16 Ultra Bundle
R21 Ultra 21Nm sustained Serious racers and professional setups Flat wire motor, zero cogging MOZA R21 Ultra Bundle
R25 Ultra 25Nm sustained Flagship and elite level sim racing True torque sensing MOZA R25 Ultra Bundle

If you are not sure which base suits your space, budget or the cars you drive, call us on (03) 9961 0240. If the Ultra line is the right call for how you race, we will say so, and if a mid tier base leaves you the budget for better pedals we will say that instead.

MOZA steering wheels

Rim diameter is the decision most people get wrong. Smaller rims turn faster and suit open wheelers and modern GT cars where your hands stay put. Larger rims give you more leverage and the wider hand positions that road, rally and truck driving actually use. Shape follows from that: flat topped and bottomed for formula, round or D shaped for everything else.

Every MOZA wheel uses the same quick release, so any rim fits any base and swapping takes seconds. Buttons, rotaries and displays vary more than they look on a photograph, so if you race a discipline with a lot of in car adjustment, count the inputs before you choose.

Compare MOZA steering wheels

Wheel Diameter Style Suits
ESX 280mm Formula The bundled starting point, PC and Xbox
FSR2 280mm Formula Open wheelers, heavy in car adjustment
KS Pro 300mm Butterfly The same shape as the KS with a higher specification
GS V2P 300mm GT GT and touring, the all rounder
Vision GS 310mm GT with display Drivers who want telemetry on the rim
Essenza SCV12 Licensed replica GT Officially licensed Lamborghini rim
Porsche Mission R 320mm GT Officially licensed Porsche rim
CS Pro 325mm Round Road and touring cars, carbon back plate
CS V2P 13 inch Round Full size rim, forged carbon shifters
RS V2 330mm Round Matches real road car rim size
Lamborghini Revuelto 340mm Round Officially licensed Lamborghini rim
TSW Truck 400mm Truck Euro Truck and American Truck Simulator
KS 300mm Butterfly Crosses over between GT, open wheel and formula

Diameters above are as published by MOZA. If you are choosing between two that are close, the shape matters more than the ten millimetres between them.

MOZA pedals

Pedals are the upgrade most drivers underestimate. Entry sets measure how far you push the brake, so your braking is only as consistent as your ankle position. A load cell brake measures pressure instead, which means the same force always produces the same braking, and that is what turns threshold and trail braking from luck into technique.

Active pedals go a step further and drive force back through the pedal face, so you feel lockup and ABS in your foot rather than reading it off the screen. Most MOZA pedal sets ship as throttle and brake, with the clutch sold separately, so you can add the third pedal when you start driving cars that need it.

R3 and R5 bundles ship with the SRP Lite2 pedal set, which is not sold on its own. It uses Hall sensors rather than a load cell, which is exactly why pedals are the most common first upgrade after a bundle. If you are buying pedals separately, the SRP2 is where the range starts, and it uses a load cell brake, so the entry point here sits further up than it does on most brands.

You do not have to replace the bundled set to improve it. The SRP Lite2 brake performance kit changes how the brake loads up, the throttle and clutch kit does the same for the other two, and a clutch pedal adds the third pedal. Those kits are made for the current set. If you bought a bundle earlier and are not certain which pedals you have, call us before ordering and we will check it against your order.

SRP2 Load cell The entry point if you are buying pedals on their own
CRP2 Load cell The step up from SRP2 for serious racing
mBooster Active Pedal Active force feedback Feeling lockup and ABS through the pedal
mBooster Active Pedal Set Active force feedback The full active setup

Adding a clutch to a standalone set is equally straightforward: the SRP2 and CRP2 clutch pedals each match their own set. Brake performance kits change the pedal feel by swapping the elastomer stack, and the haptic feedback kit adds vibration to a set that did not come with it.

MOZA shifters and handbrakes

An H pattern shifter suits classic cars, road cars and truck sim, where finding the gate is part of the driving. A sequential shifter suits modern touring and rally cars, where the movement is one firm pull and the mechanism has to survive being hammered. MOZA builds both, plus an active shifter that drives force back through the lever.

A handbrake matters more than most drivers expect once they start rallying. Mounted vertically or horizontally, it gives you a real third input for initiating slides and handling hairpins. Shifter and handbrake bundles are the usual way to add both at once and are the cheaper route if you know you want the pair.

Complete MOZA bundles

A bundle pairs a wheelbase with a matched steering wheel, and in most cases a pedal set, so everything arrives compatible and ready to mount. It is the simplest way into direct drive and usually costs less than buying the same parts separately.

Every wheelbase tier is available as a bundle. Entry bundles pair the base and wheel with a starter pedal set. Upgraded bundles swap in load cell pedals, which is the version we recommend for anyone who expects to race seriously. Truck bundles pair a base with a large diameter truck rim for Euro Truck and American Truck Simulator.

Start with the MOZA R9 Bundle if you want a setup you will not outgrow quickly, or the MOZA R5 Bundle if you are moving up from a gear driven wheel for the first time.

MOZA Pit House software

Every MOZA product is configured through one application. Pit House handles force feedback curves, steering angle, pedal calibration and pressure curves, button mapping, shift lights and dashboard display settings, so you are not juggling separate utilities for each component.

Firmware updates arrive through the same app, which means the hardware improves over time without you doing anything. If you want to tune in detail the control is there, and if you would rather not, the default profiles for most major titles are sound straight out of the box.

MOZA accessories: hubs, dashes and mounting

The parts nobody thinks about until the box arrives and something does not fit. Broadly they fall into four jobs: attaching a rim to a base, attaching a base to a rig or desk, putting information in front of you, and adding a control your rim does not have.

Accessory What it does You need it when
Quick Release Adapter Connects a rim to the base Running a third party rim, or a spare for swapping
Universal Hub Kit Mounts a non MOZA rim You already own a wheel you want to keep
Table Clamp Desk mounts the base without drilling No cockpit yet, smaller bases only
Wheel Base Adapter Plate Fits the base to a rig drilled for another brand Reusing an existing cockpit
Front Mount Front mounts the base instead of bottom mounting Your rig takes a front mounted base
Extension Rod Raises and angles the base Desk mounted and the rim sits too low
CM2 HD Racing Dash Gear, revs, lap delta and fuel at a glance You are reading telemetry off the screen corner
Multi Function Stalks Column stalks for indicators, wipers and lights Truck sim, rally and road car immersion
Active Shifter Knob Replaces the shifter knob with an active one Upgrading an existing shifter
E-Stop Switch Cuts base power immediately Running high torque, and a sensible habit
CS Pro Paddles Add-On Adds extra paddles to the CS Pro rim You want clutch paddles on a road style rim
Truck Wheel Clamp Desk mount sized for the 400mm truck rim Truck sim on a desk rather than a rig

If you are pairing MOZA with a frame rather than a desk, our sim racing cockpits range covers wheel stands through to aluminium profile rigs, and we can confirm fitment before you order.

PC and Xbox compatibility

Every MOZA wheelbase works on Windows PC, and PC is where the range is most complete. Wheels, pedals, shifters and handbrakes all connect through the base and are configured in Pit House, so there is nothing to think about beyond which parts you want.

On Xbox, the R3 bundle is officially licensed for Xbox and works on both Xbox and PC, and the ESX steering wheel is built for the same two platforms. Console licensing sits with specific products rather than the whole range, so check the product page for the base and rim you are looking at rather than assuming it carries across.

Building your first MOZA setup

A workable first setup is a wheelbase, a rim and a pedal set, mounted to something that does not move. Most people buy that as a bundle, then add to it. If you are choosing where to put your money on a first build, get the pedals right before you chase torque, because a mid tier base with load cell pedals will teach you more than a flagship base with entry pedals. The Ultra line is worth having when you want the best available and the rest of the rig can keep up with it.

The order most of our customers actually follow is base and wheel first, load cell pedals second, a rigid cockpit third, then a shifter or handbrake once they know which disciplines they are racing. Buying the whole lot at once is fine if the budget is there, but nothing is lost by building it up, because every MOZA component works with everything else in the range.

Flight simulation

MOZA also builds a force feedback flight range covering bases, flight sticks, yokes, throttle quadrants, rudder pedals and panels. If you are setting up for flight rather than racing, browse the MOZA flight simulation range instead.

Our take

"We run MOZA hardware across our showroom rigs and it consistently punches above its price point. The thing we rate most is that the ecosystem holds together, so a customer who buys at the entry level is not throwing anything away when they upgrade two years later. The top of the range is built for the people who want the best of the best, and it delivers exactly that. The honest caveat is that it only pays you back once the rest of the rig can do it justice, so if the budget is fixed we would rather see it go into pedals and a solid cockpit first."

MOZA Racing FAQs

Which MOZA wheelbase should a beginner start with?

The R5 bundle is the most practical starting point for most beginners. It delivers genuine direct drive at an accessible price and includes what you need to start racing. The R3 is the lower cost option, and the officially licensed Xbox version is the one to choose if you race on console. Step up to the R9 if you want a setup you will not feel the need to replace for several years.

Should I get the MOZA R5 or the R9?

The R5 at 5.5Nm is enough wheel for most drivers and compact enough to desk mount, so it suits smaller spaces and tighter budgets. The R9 at 9Nm is the one most of our customers land on, because the extra headroom brings more detail through the rim, though it wants something more rigid than a desk to bolt to. If you already have a cockpit, go R9.

Is the MOZA R12 worth it over the R9?

The R12 adds 12Nm and active cooling, which matters if you run long stints and want the base holding its output rather than easing off as it warms. For endurance running and hour-long races it earns its place. If your sessions are shorter, the honest answer is to stay on the R9 and put the difference into pedals.

Are MOZA products compatible with each other?

Yes. MOZA uses a universal quick release and consistent connectivity across the range, so any MOZA steering wheel works with any MOZA wheelbase, and pedals, shifters and handbrakes connect natively across the lineup. You can upgrade one component at a time without replacing everything.

What is the difference between peak torque and sustained torque?

Peak torque is the maximum a base can produce in short bursts. Sustained torque is what it can hold continuously without backing off to manage heat. MOZA quotes peak figures for the numbered bases and sustained figures for the Ultra line, so the two numbers are not directly comparable. Sustained output matters most in long stints and endurance racing.

Do I need load cell pedals?

Not to get started, but they are the single upgrade most drivers notice. A load cell brake measures the pressure you apply rather than how far you press, which makes braking repeatable. If you are already comfortable with direct drive and want to get faster, pedals are usually a better next purchase than a bigger wheelbase.

Does MOZA hardware work on Xbox?

Yes, on specific products. The R3 bundle is officially licensed for Xbox and runs on both Xbox and PC, and the ESX steering wheel is built for the same two platforms. Licensing sits with individual products rather than the range as a whole, so check the product page for the base and rim you are looking at. If you are not sure, call us on (03) 9961 0240 and we will confirm before you order.

Which racing games work with MOZA?

On PC, effectively all of them. A MOZA base presents as a standard racing wheel to Windows, so any sim or racing title with wheel support will see it, and the major sims ship with MOZA profiles built in. Force feedback strength, steering angle and pedal calibration are set per title in Pit House. On Xbox the list is set by the console rather than the hardware, so check the product page for the base you are looking at.

What is the MOZA Pit House app?

Pit House is MOZA's configuration software for all of its hardware. It handles force feedback tuning, steering angle, pedal calibration, button mapping and firmware updates across every MOZA product in your setup. It is free and runs on Windows PC.

What is the MOZA truck bundle?

The truck bundle pairs a direct drive wheelbase with a large diameter truck rim sized to match real commercial vehicle steering. It is built for Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator, where a standard racing rim feels wrong in the hands.

Do I need a cockpit, or can I mount MOZA to a desk?

The smaller bases can be desk mounted with a table clamp, and that is how a lot of people start. The higher torque bases generate enough force to move a desk, so a rigid cockpit or aluminium profile rig becomes necessary rather than optional as you move up the range. Ask us if you are unsure where that line sits for your setup.

Is MOZA gear available in Australia with local warranty support?

Yes. Everything we sell is sourced through official channels, which is what qualifies it for MOZA's extended base warranty, and warranty service stays in the country: you deal with us, the distributor collects the unit from our warehouse, and any repair is carried out in Sydney. Cover runs 24 months on wheelbases and flight bases and 12 months on most other main units, with cables and non-electronic accessories shorter or not covered. Australian Consumer Law rights apply on top.
