HORI Truck Control System

The HORI Truck Control System is built around a 40 cm wheel that turns through 1800 degrees, which is the range a loaded truck actually needs. Dual motor force feedback drives it, so weight transfer and road camber come back through the rim instead of being left to the screen.

The rest of the set follows the same thinking. Two steering column stalks put indicators and wipers where your hands already are, the shifter panel runs in H pattern or sequential with a bank of switches for lights, brakes and trailer controls, and the three metal pedals use contactless Hall effect sensors. It is a Windows system, and it clamps to a desk or bolts to a frame.

HORI Farming Vehicle Control System

Farm work is a different job, and the HORI Farming Vehicle Control System is built for it. There is no force feedback and the wheel turns through 900 degrees, because tractor steering is slow and is not where the difficulty sits. The wheel is angled closer to a real cab column and takes a detachable spinner knob.

The difficulty is the implements, so the control panel carries a multifunction lever with a twist axis and a separate throttle, alongside the switch bank you need for loaders, hitches and hydraulics. HORI developed it with GIANTS Software, the studio behind Farming Simulator, and it is Windows only like the truck system.

Which one suits you

The two systems are not interchangeable, and the choice comes down to which cab you spend your time in. Take the truck system if you drive Euro Truck Simulator 2 or American Truck Simulator and want to feel the trailer behind you. Take the farming system if you run Farming Simulator and spend more time working equipment than steering.

Neither needs a dedicated rig to start, since both clamp to a desk, though they sit better on a frame once you stop packing them away. Frames are in truck simulators and farming simulators. If it is racing rather than hauling you are after, that gear is in racing controls, and other wheels built for haulage sit in truck sim wheels.

People ask why our HORI range is so narrow when the brand makes plenty of other gear. It is because the truck and farming systems are the ones built for a job nothing else does properly. You can make a racing wheel work in a truck sim, but you feel the compromise in the first corner, and no amount of remapping fixes it. Which games work with the HORI Truck Control System?

It is built for truck simulation titles, principally Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator. HORI publishes a compatibility list for anything beyond those, and the product page carries the current detail.

Does the HORI Farming Vehicle Control System have force feedback?

No. It uses Hall effect sensors throughout but no force feedback motors. HORI built it around implement control rather than steering weight, which is where the work happens in farming titles.

Do HORI control systems work on a console?

No. Both are Windows only, and neither is licensed for Xbox or PlayStation. Console racing wheels sit in Xbox wheels, though there is no console equivalent of either HORI system.

Do I need a cockpit, or will a desk do?

A desk is enough to start, since both the wheel and the control panel clamp to one. A frame becomes worth it when you want the pedals fixed and the wheel at a consistent height.

Is there setup software?

Yes. HORI supplies a companion app for firmware updates and for changing sensitivity and button mapping. You do not need it to drive, but it is worth having for remapping the control panel.
