Freestanding or Cockpit Mounted

A freestanding stand carries its own weight on the floor, so it works with any rig or none at all, and the screens stay put when you move the cockpit. The Freestanding Single Monitor Stand is the usual starting point, and the 1500mm Freestanding Single is the wider version for larger panels.

A cockpit-mounted stand bolts to the rig instead. It takes up far less floor space and the screens move with the cockpit, which matters if you shift the rig between sessions. The Cockpit-Mounted Single Monitor Stand is the standard one.

How Many Screens

Single is the simplest and suits an ultrawide panel. Dual is the unusual one: the Freestanding Dual, Upgradeable to Triple exists so you can start with two and add the third later rather than buying twice. Triple is the common sim racing setup, and it comes in width bands, from the 22 to 32 inch triple to the 45 inch triple, so the frame matches your panel size.

Quad adds a screen above the three, usually for timing, telemetry or a flight instrument panel. The Freestanding Quad up to 80 inches covers the large-panel end of that. Heavier builds take the leg support kit, which adds bracing at the base.

Matching the Stand to Your Rig

Cockpit-mounted stands are not universal, and this is where orders go wrong. Some are cut for a specific frame: there is a version for the TR5 and a separate version for the TR8 Pro and TRX. Check which cockpit you own before ordering, because the mounting points differ.

Freestanding stands sidestep the question entirely, which is why they suit a rig we did not supply. Cockpits are in sim racing cockpits and flight simulator cockpits, and the rest of the Trak Racer range is in Trak Racer.

Adding to a Stand You Already Own

Most of this range is parts rather than whole stands, which is worth knowing before you replace anything. The add-on triple monitor arms turns a single into a triple, and the side arms carry the outer screens at the width your panels need.

If a screen will not line up, the adjustable VESA adapter kit adapts the bolt pattern. To add a display above the main bank there is the overhead monitor mount. Playseat's own TV stands sit here too, for anyone running a Playseat rather than an extruded frame.

Monitor Stand FAQs

Freestanding or cockpit-mounted, which should I get?

Freestanding if you want the screens independent of the rig, or if your cockpit is not one we supply. Cockpit-mounted if floor space is tight or you move the rig, since the screens travel with it.

Will a cockpit-mounted stand fit my rig?

Not always. Several are built for a specific frame, with separate versions for the TR5 and for the TR8 Pro and TRX. Check what your cockpit is before ordering, or call us and we will check it with you.

Can I start with one screen and add more later?

Yes. The dual stand is made to upgrade to triple, and add-on triple arms extend a single stand. That is usually cheaper than replacing the whole frame.

How much room does a triple setup need?

More than people expect, and it depends on panel size and curvature. The stands are sold in width bands to match, so work from your screen size rather than a general figure.

My monitor will not bolt on. What now?

Panel bolt patterns vary. The adjustable VESA adapter kit covers most mismatches, and there are brackets for TVs and larger displays that do not follow a standard pattern.

Do these work for flight simulation as well as racing?

Yes. The same stands carry flight sim displays, and the overhead mount is often used to put an instrument panel above the main screens.
