View full detailsFarming simulator controllers put the wheel, levers and implement buttons of a real tractor cab within reach, instead of mapping every function to a keyboard. Whether you want a wheel and pedal system or a dedicated joystick, the range here is stocked in Australia and shipped from our Adelaide warehouse.
Read MoreA racing wheel is built around one job: steering a car and feeling the road through the rim. Farming simulation needs that plus a second layer entirely, because much of the work happens with the tractor stationary or crawling. Loader height, bucket tilt, hitch position, PTO, hydraulics, lighting and guidance each want their own input.
That is why the hardware in this collection is built around levers, switch panels and joysticks rather than force feedback alone. You can play with a standard racing wheel and bind the rest to a keyboard, but the moment you are running a front loader you are reaching away from the wheel for every movement. Purpose built controls keep those functions under your hands.
The wheel based systems pair a large rotation wheel with a pedal set and a side control panel, so the secondary functions sit on dedicated switches rather than keyboard shortcuts. This is the setup to start with if most of your time goes on driving between fields, towing and road work, where steering feel and pedal control do the heavy lifting.
The HORI Farming Vehicle Control System is the current wheel option: a 13.4 inch wheel with 900 degrees of rotation, a three pedal set and a side panel carrying the bulk of its 76 programmable buttons, with Hall effect sensing on the main axes. It was developed with GIANTS Software, the studio behind Farming Simulator, and runs on Windows over USB. The rest of the range is on the HORI page.
Joystick units take the other approach. Rather than replacing your steering, they add the axis control that a wheel cannot provide: proportional movement for a loader arm, a bucket or a crane, plus a throttle lever and a block of programmable buttons in one compact housing. If your sessions are mainly loader work, yard work and precise implement positioning, this is the part that earns its place first.
The MOZA FCS Farming Control System combines a multi axis Hall effect joystick, an integrated throttle lever and 46 programmable inputs in an ambidextrous unit that works on either side of your main controls. Hall effect sensing holds the centre position, so a loader arm stays where you place it rather than creeping. It connects to a PC as a standard USB joystick and sits alongside the rest of the MOZA Racing hardware on the same software.
Platform support is decided product by product, not by the category, so check the platform listed on the item you are looking at before you order. PC carries the widest choice by a distance: anything presenting as a standard USB wheel or joystick will work in any title that accepts that input, once you map the axes and buttons in game. Console support is narrower and varies by title as well as by device.
Binding is usually straightforward. Connect the hardware before you launch, then open the in game control settings and confirm it has been detected. On the plug and play systems most inputs bind themselves; anything left over, or any switch on a secondary panel the game has not recognised, is assigned by hand from the same screen. If you are unsure whether something suits your platform, call before you buy rather than after.
Most people start with one control system and add to it. A wheel and pedals covers driving; a joystick covers the implement; plenty of players end up running both, with the joystick sitting to one side of the wheel. Beyond the controls, the thing that changes long sessions most is where everything sits, which is a seating and mounting question rather than a hardware one.
Farming, trucking and construction gear overlap heavily, so a control set bought for one usually earns its keep across the others. If you run more than one discipline, look at truck simulators for the crossover hardware and sim racing cockpits for frames that will carry a farming layout as readily as a racing one. Our farming simulator setup guide covers seating, display and desk layout in more detail.
It depends on what you spend your time doing. If you are mostly driving, a wheel and pedal system with a side panel gives you the most useful controls per dollar. If you are mostly running a loader or a crane, a joystick unit will change how the game feels far more than a wheel will. There is no single answer that suits both.
Yes. The current titles support wheels, joysticks and standard gamepads, and most purpose built farming hardware binds itself on first launch. Anything that does not bind automatically can be mapped by hand in the in game control settings.
Some products are console compatible and some are PC only, so check the platform listed on the individual product page rather than assuming. Console peripheral support also changes between titles, so it is worth confirming against the game's own supported device list as well.
A wheel alone will get you through driving and field passes comfortably. Where it runs out is implement control: raising a loader to a specific height or holding a bucket angle through a hat switch or a keyboard is awkward. A joystick gives you proportional control over those movements, which is why many setups end up with both.
In most cases yes, on PC. Hardware that is recognised as a standard USB wheel or joystick can be used in any PC simulation that accepts that input, once the axes and buttons are mapped in game. Automatic binding is only guaranteed in the titles the manufacturer lists.
A desk is fine. Wheel systems clamp to a desk edge, and joystick units are compact enough to sit beside your keyboard. If you are mounting a wheel permanently, or you already run a racing or trucking rig, a dedicated frame will hold it steadier than a clamp over long sessions.
Gamer Gear Direct is an authorised Australian dealer for the brands in this collection, so everything here is genuine stock carrying the manufacturer warranty alongside your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Orders are dispatched from our Adelaide warehouse and warranty support is handled locally, not through an overseas returns process.
If you are not sure which control system suits the way you play, call us on (03) 9961 0240 Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, or visit the showroom in Dandenong South and try the gear before you commit.
