Truck Simulators

A truck simulator setup is a wheel, pedals and somewhere solid to mount them, matched so they work together out of the box. These are the complete trucking setups we carry in Australia, built around MOZA wheelbases and the self-contained HORI system.

What a complete setup gives you

Buying the parts separately means checking that a rim fits a base, that the base drives the pedals you chose, and that the clamp suits your desk. A bundle removes that. The MOZA Trucking Bundle, the MOZA R9 V3 Trucking Bundle and the MOZA R12 V2 Trucking Bundle each pair a truck wheel with a base and pedals that are known to work together.

The difference between the three is the wheelbase, which sets how much force the wheel can deliver and how much room you have to grow later. Specifications for each are on the product pages, and the wider MOZA Racing range holds the individual parts if you would rather build it yourself.

The one-box option

The HORI Truck Control System is the other route. It is a single unit with a wheel, pedals and a shifter, made for Windows, and it does not need a separate wheelbase. That makes it the simplest way into truck sim if you are not planning to expand the setup later.

It is a different proposition to the MOZA bundles rather than a cheaper version of one. The MOZA route is modular and grows; the HORI route is complete and fixed. The HORI range covers the rest of what that brand makes.

Steering is the thing that matters

Trucking is not racing with a bigger wheel. You are turning much further, much more slowly, and holding a line under weight rather than hitting an apex. That is why a truck rim is large and turns a long way from lock to lock, and why it feels wrong if you take it racing.

If you only want the wheel and already have the rest, the truck sim wheels range covers the MOZA TSW Truck Wheel and the clamp that mounts it. The sim racing pedals range covers pedal upgrades, which matter more in trucking than people expect because you spend the drive modulating rather than stamping.

Where to put it

A desk clamp is a perfectly good start and it is how most people begin. The limit shows up when the base gets strong enough to move the desk, or when you want the wheel at truck height rather than car height, which a desk cannot give you.

At that point a frame is the answer. The sim racing cockpits range covers frames that take a truck wheel, and the racing simulators range covers complete rigs if you want one thing that does both jobs.

Accessories for American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator

Once the wheel and pedals are sorted, the accessories that change a long drive most are the ones that give you somewhere to put the switches. A cab has lights, indicators, a trailer brake, a retarder and a range splitter, and running all of that off a keyboard is what makes a haul feel like paperwork.

A button box covers most of it. The PXN CB1 Button Box gives you programmable switches and an engine start, and the Trak Racer mount kits and holders put it within reach on a rig or a desk, which you can see in the button boxes range. For gear changes the sim racing shifters range holds both sequential and H-pattern options, including the MOZA SGP Sequential Shifter and the MOZA HGP Shifter, and a sim racing handbrake stands in nicely for the trailer brake.

Truck simulator setup FAQs

What do I need for a truck simulator setup?

A wheel with enough rotation to steer a truck properly, pedals, and something solid to mount them to. The bundles here cover the first two together. Whether you need a frame depends on your desk and how strong the base is.

How much does a truck sim setup cost?

It spans a wide range, from a single self-contained unit up to a modular MOZA bundle with a strong base. The honest answer is that it depends what you want to be able to add later, so it is worth a call rather than a guess.

What is the best setup for Euro Truck Simulator and American Truck Simulator?

Both titles reward steering range and pedal feel over raw force, so put the money into the wheel and pedals before the base. Any of the bundles here will run both games.

Can I use a truck setup for racing too?

The pedals and base carry over fine. The wheel does not, because a large rim with a wide rotation range is the opposite of what a race car wants. A base with a quick release lets you swap rims instead of compromising.

Do I need a cockpit or will a desk do?

A desk and a clamp work. The stronger the base, the more the desk will flex and creep under it. Start clamped, and add a frame when it stops feeling solid.

Is the HORI system worth it over a MOZA bundle?

They answer different questions. The HORI is complete in one box and does not expand. The MOZA bundles are modular, so the base you buy now can carry different rims and pedals later. Pick on whether you expect to upgrade.

What accessories are worth adding for ATS or ETS2?

A button box first, because it moves lights, indicators and the trailer brake off the keyboard and onto something you can hit without looking. After that a shifter, and a handbrake if you want a separate lever for the trailer brake. None of it is essential, and all of it makes a long haul less like admin.
