The Honeycomb Alpha range

The Honeycomb Alpha Flight Controls Yoke & Switch Panel is where most people start. It is a full size yoke with a backlit switch panel across the front, so ignition, lighting, avionics and the master switches all come off the keyboard and onto the panel where a pilot would reach for them.

The Alpha Lite drops the switch panel and some of the metal for a lower price, and the Alpha XPC is the console licensed version that pairs with a hub. MOZA force feedback yokes

Force feedback is the real dividing line in this category. A sprung column pulls back to centre with the same weight whatever the aircraft is doing. A force feedback one loads and lightens as speed, trim and configuration change, so the column tells you what the aeroplane is doing before the instruments do.

MOZA splits this into a base and a rim. The MOZA AY90 Force Feedback Yoke Base is the entry base and the AY210 Force Feedback Yoke Base is the stronger one, with the MFY Yoke and the MFY Pro Flight Yoke as the columns that mount to them. Turtle Beach VelocityOne

The Turtle Beach VelocityOne Flight Control System takes a different approach again and builds the yoke, the throttle levers and a switch panel into a single unit. For a desk that will not take three separate boxes, that matters more than it sounds.

Yoke or stick

A yoke suits civil aviation: airliners, business aircraft and most general aviation types use a control column, so it puts your hands where the real aircraft puts them. A stick suits fighters, aerobatic types and helicopters, where the control is between your knees and the inputs are small and quick.

If you fly both, the honest answer is that a yoke is the wrong tool for fast jets and a stick is the wrong tool for a 737, and most people end up owning one of each rather than compromising. Flying a yoke on Xbox

Most yokes are PC only. Console support is the exception rather than the rule, and it comes through a specific licensed version of the yoke paired with a hub, after which the other pieces connect through that hub rather than being licensed one by one.

For most people flying general aviation and airliners on PC, the Honeycomb Alpha is the usual starting point because of the switch panel.
