View full detailsHoneycomb Aeronautical builds flight simulation controls around civil aviation flying, with a yoke, a throttle quadrant and rudder pedals designed to work as one set. Gamer Gear Direct is an authorised Honeycomb dealer in Australia, with local warranty support and advice before you buy.
Read MoreThe Alpha is the control most people start a Honeycomb setup with. It is a yoke rather than a stick, which is what the cockpit of an airliner or a light aircraft actually has, and it carries a backlit switch panel so ignition, lights and avionics come off the keyboard.
A Lite version drops the switch panel and some of the metal for a lower price, and an XPC version adds console support through a separate hub. The wider yoke range is in Yokes.
The Bravo is the piece most owners rate highest. Its levers can be reconfigured for a single engine aircraft or a four engine airliner, and it adds a flap lever, a trim wheel and a row of autopilot buttons that would otherwise live on the keyboard.
The Bravo Lite keeps the same lever layout with a shorter feature list. Both suit helicopter flying as a collective too, because the levers hold their position rather than springing back. Other throttles are in Flight Sim Throttles.
The Charlie covers yaw and toe braking, with hall effect sensors that use magnets rather than contact, so small inputs stay accurate rather than wearing a groove over time. Tension is adjustable, which matters once you settle on the aircraft you fly most.
Grip pads and carpet spikes keep the set from creeping away from you under load. The full pedal range is in Rudder Pedals.
The Foxtrot is a stick rather than a yoke, for the aircraft a yoke does not suit, and it is also sold as a kit with the parts needed to get flying. Sticks in general are in Joysticks.
The Sierra is a throttle, propeller and mixture module, which is the lever set a general aviation aircraft actually uses. It sits alongside a Bravo rather than replacing it, and panels of that kind are in Flight Simulator Accessories. The Echo goes the other way and puts a stick, sliders, rudder paddles and trim into one handheld unit, for flying without a desk full of hardware.
The pieces are designed to be bought one at a time, and most people start with a yoke, add a throttle quadrant, then add pedals once they are flying regularly. Nothing is wasted by building it up in that order.
Buying the three together as a bundle is usually the cheaper route if you already know you want the full cockpit. Matched sets across brands are in Flight Control Bundles.
Most of the range is built for PC. Console support comes through a specific yoke version paired with a hub, and the other pieces then connect through that hub rather than being licensed individually.
Console licensed gear across all brands is in Xbox Flight Controls, and the full flight range is in Flight Simulator Controls.
"Honeycomb is the range we point most new flight simmers at, because the build quality sits well ahead of what the price suggests and you can buy the pieces one at a time rather than all at once. We run the full set on our showroom rigs and it takes daily use without complaint. The honest caveat is that the range is built around civil aviation flying, so if you spend most of your time in fast jets a stick based setup will suit you better."

A yoke, in almost every case. It is the control you hold for the whole flight, and the throttle quadrant and pedals make more sense once the yoke is in place.
The Lite drops the backlit switch panel and uses lighter construction for a lower price. The yoke action itself is the same idea, so it comes down to whether you want the switches.
Not to fly, but it is the piece that changes the most. Configurable levers, a flap lever, a trim wheel and autopilot buttons all move jobs off the keyboard.
Only the console version of the yoke paired with a hub. Read the individual product page before ordering if you fly on console.
Yes. Each piece is read as its own USB device, so a Honeycomb yoke will sit alongside pedals or a throttle from another maker without any extra hardware.
The throttle quadrant works well as a collective because the levers hold position, and the pedals cover anti torque. The yoke is the one piece that does not suit rotary flying.
Honeycomb products are covered by a two year limited manufacturer warranty against defects, alongside your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
Honeycomb Aeronautical products are designed and developed in California by pilots and aerospace engineers.
We are an authorised dealer for the brands we stock, so all Honeycomb Aeronautical gear is genuine, covered by its manufacturer warranty, and supported locally rather than through an overseas returns process. Our stock is held and dispatched from our Adelaide warehouse or through trusted brand partners.
You are welcome to try the range in our Dandenong South showroom in Melbourne before you commit, which is the fastest way to settle a yoke against a stick. Call us on (03) 9961 0240, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
