Playseat

Playseat builds compact racing simulator cockpits that fit a spare room, an office or a lounge without a permanent rig taking over the space. Gamer Gear Direct is an authorised Playseat dealer in Australia, so every cockpit ships with genuine local warranty support.

Choosing a Playseat Cockpit

Playseat splits into two shapes. Full seat cockpits such as the Playseat Trophy put you in a road car driving position with an adjustable seat and a fixed wheel deck, which suits GT, touring car and rally driving. Formula cockpits such as the Formula Instinct and the Formula Intelligence drop you into a reclined open wheel position with the wheel raised in front of you.

If you race a mix of single seaters and GT cars, the full seat cockpits stay the more versatile choice. If open wheel racing is most of your time on track, a formula cockpit puts your arms and legs where they belong and the difference is immediate.

Playseat Cockpits That Fold Away

Not every setup gets a dedicated room. The Playseat Challenge DD F1 Edition folds flat, stands upright and rolls on built in castors with your wheel and pedals still attached, so it can come out for a session and go back in a cupboard afterwards. It holds a formula seating position in a high carbon steel frame.

Folding is not a limit on what you can bolt to it. Playseat rates the Challenge DD frame for direct drive wheelbases and load cell pedals, with locking adjustment systems that hold your driving position in place. So the choice between a folding cockpit and a fixed one comes down to whether the rig needs to disappear between sessions, not to the hardware it will carry.

Fitting Your Wheel, Pedals and Screens

Playseat cockpits use standard mounting patterns, so most sim racing wheels and sim racing pedals on the market bolt straight on. For higher torque wheelbases the Playseat Direct Drive PRO Adapter adds a reinforced mounting plate to suit the extra load, and the Playseat Trophy Shifter and Handbrake Mount carries a sequential shifter or handbrake beside the wheel deck.

Screens sit separately. The Playseat TV Stand XL holds a single display or a triple screen array at the right height and distance, and you can compare it against the rest of our monitor stands if your desk or wall mount is already doing the job.

PC, PlayStation and Xbox

The cockpit itself is platform neutral. What decides console compatibility is the wheel and pedal set you bolt to it, so a Playseat frame will carry you from console racing to PC without being replaced. Our PlayStation racing simulators and Xbox racing simulators collections group the wheels licensed for each platform.

If you would rather buy the cockpit, wheel and pedals matched in one go, our racing simulator packages pair components that are already tested together, and the wider sim racing cockpits range covers the rigs beyond Playseat.

Playseat Accessories and Flight Cockpits

The accessory range fills in the gaps around the rig. The Playseat Racing Simulator Seat Slider adds fore and aft travel so more than one driver can share a cockpit, the Gearshift Support and Gearshift Holder PRO mount a shifter at hand height, and the Playseat Floormat protects the floor underneath. The Playseat Puma Active Gaming Chair sits outside the racing range for time spent at the desk. The whole list sits alongside the rest of our racing simulator accessories.

Playseat also builds for aviation. The Playseat Air Force Flight Simulator Cockpit has a centre yoke or joystick mount with throttle and stick mounts either side, room for rudder pedals in front of your feet, and a frame that folds down for storage. It sits in our Playseat flight simulators collection.

Buying Playseat from Gamer Gear Direct

Gamer Gear Direct is an authorised Playseat dealer. Every cockpit is genuine stock bought through official channels, covered by the manufacturer warranty and by your rights under Australian Consumer Law, with support handled here rather than sent offshore. Orders ship from our Adelaide warehouse.

You are also welcome to sit in one before you buy. Our showroom in Dandenong South, Melbourne has cockpits set up and running, and you can talk it through with the team on (03) 9961 0240, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. If you are weighing a Playseat against the rest of the racing simulators range, we will give you a straight answer.

Playseat FAQs

Is Gamer Gear Direct an authorised Playseat dealer?

Yes. We buy through official channels, so your cockpit is genuine stock with full manufacturer warranty backing and local support.

Will a Playseat cockpit work with a direct drive wheelbase?

Yes. The Challenge DD F1 Edition is rated by Playseat for direct drive wheelbases and load cell pedals, and the Playseat Direct Drive PRO Adapter adds a reinforced mounting plate for fitting a direct drive base to compatible cockpits. Check the product page for the cockpit you are looking at, or call us and we will confirm it against the wheelbase you are running.

Which Playseat cockpit is best for F1 games?

A formula cockpit gives you the reclined open wheel position those games are built around. The Formula Instinct and Formula Intelligence are the fixed frame options, and the Challenge DD F1 Edition is the foldable one.

Can a Playseat cockpit be stored away between sessions?

The Challenge series folds flat, stands upright and moves on built in castors with the wheel and pedals still mounted. The Trophy and the formula cockpits are full size frames designed to stay assembled, and take up a matching amount of floor space.

Does a Playseat cockpit work with PlayStation and Xbox?

Yes. The cockpit is platform neutral, so console compatibility comes down to the wheel and pedals you fit to it.

Can I see a Playseat cockpit before buying?

Yes. Our Dandenong South showroom in Melbourne has cockpits set up so you can check the seating position and reach before you commit.
