View full detailsA PS5 racing simulator is a wheel, pedals and a cockpit that all work together on console, with no adapters and no compatibility guesswork. Gamer Gear Direct builds complete PS5 and PS4 packages in Australia around real direct drive, assembled and supported locally.
Read MoreA sim wheel does not just plug into a PlayStation. The console only talks to wheels that are licensed for it, which is why so much of the best sim racing hardware is PC-only and why a rig assembled from parts can fall over at the last step. It is the single most common mistake we see people make.
That is what makes the Logitech RS50 the centre of these packages. It is an 8Nm direct drive system licensed to run natively on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 as well as PC, with TRUEFORCE feedback that turns the game's physics and audio into something you feel through the rim. Direct drive used to mean a PC build. On console it no longer does. If you only want the wheel rather than the whole rig, the PlayStation steering wheels range is the place to look.
Every PS5 package here is built on the full Logitech RS control set rather than a wheel and pedals alone. That means the RS50 base, hub and rim, the RS pedals as a three-pedal set with a clutch, the RS H-shifter for H-pattern cars, and the RS Shifter and Handbrake unit that switches between sequential shifting and a handbrake without tools. Every discipline is covered out of the box.
Underneath sits a Trak Racer cockpit, because direct drive needs a frame that does not move. A wheel that can twist the rig it is bolted to sends you flex instead of feedback. The seat, brackets, slider and floor mat are included, and the rigs are pre-drilled for other major brands so the wheel, pedals or base can be stepped up later without replacing the frame.
The controls are the same across the range, so the choice is really about the frame and the driving position. The TR80S build uses an aluminium profile cockpit that is modular and easy to extend. The TR8 Pro build uses a heavier steel frame with a dual-supported wheel shaft, rated well beyond the base it ships with, and a more compact footprint for a smaller room.
The F1 packages put you in a formula driving position instead, legs up and reclined, which suits open wheel racing and feels wrong for almost everything else. Pick the frame for the cars you actually drive and the room you have, not for the headline specification. If you want to compare against PC and multi-platform builds, the full racing simulators range is the wider view.
Buying a rig as a package is mostly about not discovering, three parts in, that the wheel you chose is PC only. Console licensing is the thing that catches people out, and the value in a complete setup is that the compatibility question is answered before it ships: the wheel, the pedals, the shifters and the frame all work together on the console you already own, and they arrive ready to assemble rather than ready to research. The honest caveat is that you pay something for that certainty. If you enjoy the homework and you are happy to check every spec sheet yourself, you can usually put something comparable together for less.

These packages do. The Logitech RS50 and the RS control set are licensed for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, and they run on PC as well, so the same rig covers all three.
The console only accepts wheels licensed for it. A lot of excellent sim hardware is PC-only, and no adapter reliably works around that, so the licence is the first thing to check before anything else.
The motor drives the wheel shaft with no belt or gears in between, so nothing softens the signal before it reaches your hands. It is the biggest single step up in feel, and until recently console racers could not get it at all.
A stand is fine for a belt or gear wheel. Direct drive puts real torque through the mount, and anything that twists costs you feedback, so a rigid frame is part of the system rather than furniture.
You can upgrade. The cockpits are pre-drilled for the major wheel, pedal and shifter brands and the frames are rated beyond the base they ship with, so you can step up components without starting again.
A screen or TV and the game. The rig connects to the console directly, and everything needed to mount and assemble it is in the box.
Gamer Gear Direct is an authorised dealer for both Logitech and Trak Racer, so every package is genuine and carries its full manufacturer warranty, handled locally rather than through an overseas returns process. Your rights under Australian Consumer Law are unaffected, and rigs ship from our Adelaide warehouse.
These are big purchases and the room they go in matters as much as the specification, so it is worth a conversation first. Call us on (03) 9961 0240, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, or come and sit in one at the Dandenong South showroom in Melbourne before you decide.
