Which Tray Fits Your Cockpit

The chassis decides it. On an aluminium extrusion rig the Trak Racer Adjustable Keyboard & Mouse Tray V2 clamps anywhere along the profile, which covers Trak Racer's extrusion cockpits and most other T slot rigs. It carries a 480 by 200mm keyboard plate and a separate 200 by 200mm mouse plate on adjustable elbows, mounted either side of the wheel or stick.

A tube frame has no rail to clamp to, which is why the Adjustable Keyboard & Mouse Tray for TR8 Pro & TRX exists. Same two plates and the same adjustment, mounted to suit the TR8 Pro and the Alpine Racing TRX instead. If you are still choosing a frame, they are in aluminium chassis and tube chassis.

Keyboard Only, or Keyboard and Mouse

If the mouse already lives on a desk beside the rig, or you only reach for the keyboard to change a binding, the Trak Racer Universal Keyboard Holder is the smaller answer. It mounts to extruded aluminium profile and holds a keyboard where you can reach it without leaning out of the seat.

It is the least intrusive option and the cheapest, but it holds a keyboard and nothing else. If you work through menus mid session, or fly where a mouse does real work in the cockpit, take one of the two plate trays instead.

A Desk That Swings Out of the Way

The Trak Racer Swivel Tabletop and Desk Mount is the largest surface of the four, a 620 by 200mm plate on a reinforced A frame. Three adjustor joints set the angle and the swing radius rather than fixing it in one position.

What it does that a tray cannot is move fully clear of the driving position and tuck back under the wheel mount. It bolts to any 8020 or slot style aluminium profile, so it retrofits to a rig you already own rather than needing one built around it.

Fitting One to Your Rig

All four mount to the cockpit rather than to a desk, which is the point. The keyboard travels with the rig and sits in the same place every session, instead of migrating to the floor or the seat between races.

Check what your chassis is built from before ordering, because the extrusion mounts and the tube frame tray are not interchangeable. Cockpits are in racing simulator cockpits and flight simulator cockpits, and screens that bolt to the same rails are in monitor stands.

Keyboard and Mouse Tray FAQs

Will a keyboard tray fit my cockpit?

It depends on what the frame is made of. Extruded aluminium profile takes the V2 tray and the Universal Keyboard Holder, since both clamp to the slot. A tube frame needs the tray built for the TR8 Pro and TRX, because there is no profile to clamp to.

What is the difference between the V2 tray and the TR8 Pro and TRX tray?

The plates and the adjustment are the same. The mounting is not: the V2 clamps to aluminium profile and the other is made to fit the TR8 Pro and Alpine Racing TRX tube frames.

Can I mount the mouse tray on the left?

Yes. Both two plate trays can be set up either side of the wheel or flight stick, so left handed users and right handed users are equally catered for.

Do I need the mouse tray at all?

Not if the mouse stays on a desk next to the rig. The Universal Keyboard Holder covers the keyboard on its own and takes up far less room.

Will these fit a rig that is not a Trak Racer?

The profile mounted options generally will, since most branded rigs are built on the same T slot aluminium. The TR8 Pro and TRX tray is the exception, because it is made for those two frames.

Can I fit one to a desk instead of a cockpit?

These are built to clamp to a rig. The Swivel Tabletop and Desk Mount is the closest to a desk solution, but it still bolts to aluminium profile rather than to a desk edge.
