NaturalPoint TrackIR 5 6DOF Head Tracker Ultra Pack

View full detailsTrackIR uses an infrared camera on your monitor to follow a clip on your headset, so looking around the cockpit becomes a head movement rather than a hat switch. Gamer Gear Direct supplies the NaturalPoint TrackIR 5 range in Australia for flight, combat and sim racing.
Read MoreThe camera reads the clip in six degrees of freedom, so leaning forward, tilting your head and glancing sideways all move the in-game view. Small movements are amplified, which means you check a mirror or clear your nose on final approach without taking a hand off the controls.
It is the cheapest thing you can do to a flight sim that changes how it feels to fly. A headset gives you the same freedom and more, but TrackIR leaves you looking at your own screens and instruments, which is why plenty of pilots run it instead of VR rather than alongside it.
All three use the same TrackIR 5 camera, and what changes is the clip you wear. The Pro Pack ships with the reflective TrackClip, which needs no power and sits on a headset band. The Ultra Pack adds the TrackClip Pro, a powered clip with its own emitters and a cable to your PC.
The powered clip is the one to choose if you run a bright room or a lot of light behind you, because it emits rather than reflects. The Gamer Set is the third option in the range. If you are still choosing between controls, our joysticks and rudder pedals ranges are the other two pieces most pilots add first.
TrackIR is a Windows PC device. It connects by USB, sits on top of a monitor, and runs through NaturalPoint's own software, which is where you set the curves that decide how far the view swings for a given head movement. Spend some time in there on day one, because the default profile suits nobody in particular.
Support is per title rather than universal, so check your simulator before you order. Most of the major flight and combat sims have had native support for years. Our flight simulator controls range covers the rest of the setup, and the flight simulator cockpits range is where to start if you are building the frame around it.
Yes. Gamer Gear Direct supplies the NaturalPoint TrackIR 5 range here, with Australian warranty support and local help if something goes wrong, rather than a return shipped overseas.
The camera is the same. The Pro Pack comes with the reflective TrackClip, and the Ultra Pack comes with the powered TrackClip Pro, which emits its own infrared rather than bouncing the camera's back. The powered clip is more reliable in a bright room.
Support is added by each game rather than by the device, so it depends on the title. Most major flight and combat simulators support it natively. Tell us what you fly and we will confirm it before you order.
Probably not. A headset already gives you head movement and depth. TrackIR is for pilots who want to keep looking at real screens, real instruments and a real keyboard, which is a different way to fly rather than a worse one.
Stock is held and dispatched from our Adelaide warehouse, with Australian warranty support and your rights under Australian Consumer Law behind it.
If you are not sure which pack suits your room or your simulator, call the team on (03) 9961 0240, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, or try one in the showroom in Dandenong South, Melbourne. If you are putting a full setup together, our flight simulator bundles pair the controls up for you.
