Description

Trak Racer Cockpit-Mounted Single Monitor Stand

One big screen, mounted to the rig, with room to become three later. That is the argument for this stand, and it is a better argument than it first sounds: most people buy a single screen and then discover a year in that they want triples. Starting on a stand that can carry them saves buying twice. It sits with the rest of the sim racing monitor stands we stock.

It takes a single display up to 80 inches, which is the largest ceiling in Trak Racer's cockpit-mounted range, and it explicitly handles ultrawides including 34 and 49 inch panels. The frame is aluminium extrusion, and height, depth and angle all adjust.

It fits the TR200, TRA, TR160, TR120, TR80S, TR40S and TRK extrusion frames and most other aluminium profile rigs.

Key features

  • Supports a single display up to 80 inches
  • Handles ultrawide panels including 34 and 49 inch
  • Upgradeable to triple and quad configurations
  • Aluminium extrusion construction with minimal flex
  • Height, depth and angle adjustment
  • Mounts directly to the cockpit rather than the floor
  • Fits Trak Racer extrusion frames and most profile rigs
  • Suited to sim racing, flight simulation and truck simulation

The upgrade path is the reason to choose it

Trak Racer makes two cockpit-mounted single stands, and the difference between them is not the screen size, it is what happens next. The Lite version runs a 580mm profile and can never carry side panels. This one can.

If you are certain a single screen is where you will stay, the Lite is the cheaper answer and a perfectly good one. If there is any real chance of triples, this is the stand that gets you there without replacing the hardware, and the difference in price now is smaller than the difference in cost later.

Eighty inches, and ultrawides handled properly

Eighty inches is the largest single-display ceiling in the cockpit-mounted range, which puts a genuine television within reach if that is the setup you want. Ultrawides are called out separately because they are the awkward case: a 49 inch super-ultrawide weighs less than a 65 inch TV but puts its mass much further from the mount.

Trak Racer names 34 and 49 inch ultrawides as supported. Height, depth and angle all adjust, so the panel can be set at the distance the field of view calculation actually wants rather than wherever the bracket happens to put it.

Cockpit-mounted rather than freestanding

Mounting to the rig keeps the screen at a fixed distance from your eyes no matter how the seat is set, which is the whole basis of a field of view setting. It also lets the screen sit closer to the wheel than a freestanding stand comfortably allows.

The trade is vibration. A cockpit-mounted screen shares whatever the rig is doing, so on a motion platform or a very strong direct drive setup a freestanding stand is the quieter option. Both types are in the sim racing monitor stands if you want to compare.

Our expert take

"This is the single monitor stand we would point most people toward, and the reason is the upgrade path rather than the 80 inch ceiling. Buying a stand that cannot ever take triples is how people end up buying two stands."

"Worth knowing before you order: Trak Racer publishes no dimensions and no weight rating for this stand, and 80 inches of television is a lot of mass on a cockpit-mounted arm. If you are going near the top of that range, talk to us first rather than assuming the ceiling is the same for a heavy TV as it is for a light panel."

Frequently asked questions

Can it be upgraded to triple monitors?

Yes. Unlike the Lite version of this stand, this one is designed to expand to triple and quad configurations, which is the main reason to choose it.

Will it take an ultrawide?

Yes. Trak Racer specifically names 34 and 49 inch ultrawides as supported, alongside standard monitors and TVs up to 80 inches.

Which rigs does it fit?

The TR200, TRA, TR160, TR120, TR80S, TR40S and TRK extrusion frames, and most other aluminium profile rigs. If yours is another brand, check the frame dimensions first or ask us to confirm against the racing simulator range.

How does it compare to a freestanding stand?

Cockpit-mounted keeps the screen at a fixed distance from your eyes and lets it sit closer to the wheel. Freestanding isolates the screen from rig vibration and moves between setups more easily. The sim racing monitor stands covers both types.
