Description

Trak Racer 1500mm Freestanding Single Monitor Stand

Most single monitor stands are a dead end. You buy one, you enjoy it, and the day you decide you want triples you discover the frame cannot carry them. This one is built the other way round: a single stand today, with optional side arms and an overhead mount that bolt onto the same base. It sits with the rest of the sim racing monitor stands we stock.

It carries one display up to 80 inches on any VESA pattern from 75 to 400mm, which is the largest single-screen ceiling in the range and comfortably covers a television used as a sim monitor.

Because it stands on its own frame rather than bolting to the cockpit, nothing the rig does reaches the screen.

Trak Racer 1500mm freestanding single monitor stand shown complete

Key features

  • Supports a single display up to 80 inches
  • VESA compatibility from 75 to 400mm
  • Optional side arms convert it to a triple setup
  • Optional quad mount adds an overhead display
  • Upgrades without replacing the base stand
  • Freestanding, so no vibration transfer from the rig
  • Monitor distance adjustable for field of view
  • Works with Trak Racer tube and extrusion cockpits

Built to grow rather than be replaced

The upgrade path is the reason to choose this over a cheaper single stand. Side arms turn it into a triple, and a quad mount adds an overhead screen, both bolting to the base frame you already own.

That matters because the usual pattern is buying a single stand, then buying a triple stand a year later and having nothing to do with the first one. Paying slightly more now for a frame that expands is cheaper than paying twice.

Eighty inches, isolated from the rig

Eighty inches on a single screen is a genuine television, and a freestanding frame is the sensible way to carry one. The screen sits on its own legs rather than cantilevered off the cockpit, and none of the load goes through the rig.

The other half of that is vibration. A cockpit-mounted screen shares whatever the wheelbase is doing; a freestanding one does not. On a motion platform or a strong direct drive setup that separation is the difference between a stable image and one that moves with every kerb.

Works with the cockpit you already have

Since it does not attach to the rig, it is not tied to a particular frame. Trak Racer lists it against their tube frames including the FS3, RS6, TR8 PRO, TRX, Porsche 91XTR, Carbon Fibre TRX, TR5, TRF, Aston Martin AMR26, TR2, TR3, TR4 and the Hot Wheels HW2, HW3 and HW5, and their extrusion frames including the TR200, TRA, TR160, TR120, TR80S, TR40S and TRK.

In practice it will stand alongside almost any cockpit, including brands not on that list. Allow floor space behind the rig for the frame and the legs. If you would rather keep everything within the rig's own footprint, the cockpit-mounted stands in the sim racing monitor stands are the alternative.

Our expert take

"The upgrade path is what makes this the smart buy in the single stand category. Side arms and an overhead mount later, on the same base, means one purchase instead of two when your setup grows."

"The honest trade against a cockpit-mounted stand is floor space and a fixed position. A freestanding frame needs room behind the rig, and if you move the seat the screen does not come with you, so your field of view depends on the stand staying where you put it."

Frequently asked questions

Can it be upgraded to triple monitors?

Yes. Optional side arms convert it to a triple setup and an optional quad mount adds an overhead display, both fitting the same base stand rather than requiring a replacement.

How big a screen will it take?

A single display up to 80 inches, on any VESA pattern from 75 to 400mm.

Does it need a Trak Racer cockpit?

No. It stands on its own frame, so it works alongside effectively any rig. Trak Racer lists it against their own tube and extrusion frames but it does not bolt to any of them.

Freestanding or cockpit-mounted?

Freestanding isolates the screen from rig vibration and suits motion platforms. Cockpit-mounted keeps the screen at a fixed distance from your eyes and uses less floor space. Both types are in the sim racing monitor stands.
