Description

Trak Racer Freestanding Quad Monitor Stand

Three screens wrap the horizon. The fourth one, overhead, is where the timing screen, the tyre temperatures or the flight instruments go, and once you have run a rig that way it is hard to go back to alt-tabbing.

This carries all four on a frame of its own: three primary displays up to 45 inches with an additional screen up to 32 inches, on VESA patterns from 75 to 400mm.

Because it stands on its own legs, nothing bolts to the cockpit and nothing the wheelbase does reaches the panels. It sits with the rest of the sim racing monitor stands we stock.

Trak Racer freestanding quad monitor stand shown complete

Key features

  • Carries three primary displays up to 45 inches
  • Additional overhead display up to 32 inches
  • VESA compatibility from 75 to 400mm
  • Height, leg width and monitor position all adjustable
  • Freestanding, so no vibration transfer from the rig
  • Screen distance adjustable for field of view
  • Works with Trak Racer tube and extrusion cockpits
  • Mounting hardware included

The fourth screen changes how you use the rig

A triple gives you the view out of the car. The overhead panel gives you everything you would otherwise be guessing at: sector times, fuel, tyre wear, a track map, or in a flight sim the instrument stack that will not fit in the forward view.

That is why quad setups are common in endurance racing and near universal in serious flight sim. The information you check every lap stops competing with the information you need every corner.

Thirty-two inches overhead is more than enough for that job, and keeping it smaller than the primaries keeps the weight where it belongs, low and central.

Four screens want their own frame

Cantilevering four panels off a cockpit is asking a lot of the rig, and it puts every bit of wheelbase vibration straight into the image. A freestanding frame takes the load and the movement out of the equation entirely.

It also means the array survives a change of cockpit. Sell the rig, buy a different one, and the screens stay exactly where they were, which is the strongest practical argument for freestanding in a setup this size.

Height, leg width and individual monitor positions all adjust, so the wrap angle and the screen distance are yours to set rather than fixed by the frame.

Fitment and floor space

Trak Racer list it against their tube frames including the FS3, RS6, TR8 PRO, TRX, Porsche 91XTR, Carbon Fibre TRX, TR5, TRF, Aston Martin AMR26, TR2, TR3, TR4 and the Hot Wheels HW2, HW3 and HW5, and their extrusion frames including the TR200, TRA, TR160, TR120, TR80S, TR40S and TRK. As a freestanding stand it will also work alongside cockpits from other brands.

The thing to plan for is depth. A four-screen freestanding frame needs real room behind the rig for the legs, so measure before ordering and tell us your room if you want it checked.

If three screens is enough, the Freestanding Triple Monitor Stand is the lighter option, and the rest are in the sim racing monitor stands.

Our expert take

"The overhead screen is the upgrade people underrate. Going from one screen to three changes how the car feels; adding the fourth changes how you race, because the data you were guessing at is finally in front of you."

"Freestanding is the only sensible way to carry four panels. The moment you hang that much glass off a cockpit you are fighting flex and vibration, and on a motion platform it is not even a discussion."

- Blake Sterling, Founder & CEO, Gamer Gear Direct

Frequently asked questions

How big can the screens be?

Three primary displays up to 45 inches each, plus an additional overhead display up to 32 inches.

Does it attach to my cockpit?

No. It stands on its own frame, so it works alongside any rig and stays in place if you change cockpits.

What VESA patterns does it take?

75 to 400mm, which covers effectively every monitor and most televisions in this size range.

Will it suit a motion platform?

Yes, and it is the right choice for one. Because the screens are isolated from the rig, a moving platform does not move the image. See the sim racing monitor stands for the alternatives.
