Both are worth setting up when they arrive rather than leaving them on the defaults. The spring and stop position you want for rally is not the one you want for drift, and it is a ten minute job with the supplied tools.
Both units bolt to aluminium profile rigs through an M6 pattern, which covers most sim racing cockpits and wheel stands. The HBP can also be side mounted if you would rather have the lever beside the seat than in front of it.
On a desk there is no bolt pattern to use, so MOZA sells a Universal Mounting Plate separately for each. Neither unit is designed to be clamped to a desktop without it.
Mount the handbrake where your hand already falls off the wheel rather than where there happens to be a free hole. A lever you have to reach for gets used late, and late is the one thing a handbrake cannot be.
There are two ways to connect each unit. USB-B straight to a Windows PC treats it as its own device, which works regardless of what wheel base you run. RJ11 into a compatible MOZA wheelbase routes it through the base instead, so it arrives in MOZA Pit House alongside your other MOZA gear.
Running both over USB is always available, so you are never limited by how many accessory ports your particular wheel base has.
