Description

GT position, carbon look finish

A fixed back GT bucket built on a fibreglass shell and finished with a hydro dipped carbon fibre texture. You get the look of a woven carbon shell over a material that is considerably kinder to buy, and a seat that holds you where a GT car would.

The bolsters are shaped for a reclined GT driving position rather than an upright one, so your shoulders stay planted through long left handers without you bracing against the wheel. It fits the tube frame cockpits including the RS6, TR8 Pro, TRX, Porsche 91XTR and Carbon Fibre TRX, and the aluminium profile range covering the TR200, TRA, TR160, TR120, TR80S, TR40S and TRK.

Trak Racer GT Pro racing seat with carbon fibre look finish

Key features

  • Fibreglass shell with hydro dipped carbon texture
  • GT style fixed back bucket
  • Suits waists up to 42 inches
  • Driver height 130cm to 200cm
  • Rated to 160kg
  • Fire retardant ultra soft cloth over high density foam
  • Side mount, M8 at 29.5mm spacing
  • Slotted for 4, 5 and 6 point harnesses

What the carbon look finish actually is

This is a fibreglass shell with a carbon fibre texture applied by hydro dipping. It is a finish rather than a structural material, and we would rather say so than let you find out later. What you gain is the appearance at a fibreglass price, on a shell that is perfectly rigid for sim use.

If you want a genuine woven carbon shell, that is a different seat and a different budget. The TR Series dry carbon seat is the real thing, and the page says so plainly. Both hold you the same way. Only one of them is carbon underneath.

The GT seating position

A GT bucket sits you reclined with your hips low and your knees raised, which is the position a GT3 or touring car puts you in. It is the most common sim racing position because it suits a conventional wheel deck height and it is comfortable over a two hour stint.

The alternative is an upright rally position, which sits you taller with more forward visibility and suits stage rally and older machinery. If that is the driving you do, the RS GT Rally seat is the same shell in that profile.

Fitting it to the rig

The seat side mounts using M8 fixings at 29.5mm spacing, which is the common side mount standard. Brackets are what connect that to your chassis, and the right bracket depends on the seating position you want rather than the seat itself.

For a side mounted bucket like this one, the bucket seat brackets let you switch between formula and GT positions. If you want finer control over the angle, the 18 stage bracket gives you more steps to work with.

Our expert take

"We are careful about how we describe this seat because the word carbon does a lot of work in sim racing marketing. This is a fibreglass shell with a carbon look finish, it is rigid, it is comfortable and it photographs beautifully. If you want a genuine carbon shell we sell those too, and they cost what carbon costs."
