Description

Eighteen steps to get it right

Most seat brackets give you two or three positions. This one gives you eighteen, which turns seat angle from a compromise into something you can actually dial in. It is an oversized side mount bracket for bucket seats, covering the range between a GT and a formula seating position in fine steps.

Eighteen stages matters most to drivers who are between the standard positions, or who are sensitive to small changes in hip angle. Steel with a black powder coat finish.

Key features

  • Eighteen adjustment stages
  • Oversized side mount bracket
  • Covers GT through to formula positions
  • For side mounted bucket seats
  • Steel with black powder coat
  • Not suitable for the TR8 Pro

Why eighteen steps is not overkill

Hip angle changes how long you can sit comfortably and how much of your body weight is supported by the seat rather than by your legs. A few degrees either way is the difference between a position that works for two hours and one that starts aching after forty minutes.

With two or three preset positions you take whichever is closest. With eighteen you find the one that suits you. It is the sort of adjustment you use once, properly, and then never think about again.

One important exclusion

This bracket is not suitable for the Trak Racer TR8 Pro. It is oversized, which is what gives it the range, and that size is what puts it outside what the TR8 Pro can accommodate.

For a TR8 Pro, the standard bucket seat brackets are the correct part. They cover the two main positions rather than eighteen steps, which is enough for most drivers.

Setting it up

Fit the brackets to the seat first, then offer the assembly up to the chassis. Sit in it before you commit to a stage, and be prepared to try two or three either side of your first guess.

If the rig is shared, add a seat slider underneath. The bracket sets the angle once for the seat, the slider handles the fore and aft difference between drivers. The wider racing simulator accessories range covers the sliders and fixings that sit between the bracket and the frame.

Our expert take

"Eighteen stages sounds like marketing until you have spent an evening trying to find a hip angle that does not ache. Fine adjustment on a seat bracket is one of the few specifications where more genuinely is better. Just note it does not fit the TR8 Pro, which catches people out."

Frequently asked questions

Does it fit the TR8 Pro?
