Description

Close off the beam ends

Cut aluminium extrusion leaves an open profile at every end, and an open profile collects dust, catches clothing and looks unfinished on an otherwise tidy build. These moulded ABS caps push into the end of 80x40mm profile and close it off.

The 80x40mm size is the workhorse section across the aluminium chassis rigs Trak Racer builds, so this is the cap most rigs need. They ship two to a pack, which covers both ends of a single rail.

Trak Racer 80x40mm ABS extrusion end cap

Key features

  • Fits 80x40mm profile
  • Moulded ABS construction
  • Two caps per pack
  • Push fit, no tools required

Why bother capping the ends

An exposed extrusion end is a dust trap. The internal channels run the length of the rail and collect whatever settles in the room, which then works its way out onto the floor every time the rig is moved. A cap closes the section and keeps the inside clean.

There is a safety element too. Cut aluminium ends can be sharp, particularly on a rail at shin height, and a moulded cap takes the edge off. Pair them with the 40mm corner bracket and cap set if you want the corners finished to the same standard. Where the frame steps up to the deeper sections, the 120x40mm cap covers those.

Our expert take

"Caps are the cheapest thing you can do to make a self built rig look like a finished product. People spend thousands on a cockpit and then leave four open beam ends staring at them. A pack or two of these is the last five minutes of any build."

- Blake Sterling, Founder & CEO, Gamer Gear Direct

Frequently asked questions

Which profile size do I need?

These fit 80x40mm extrusion. Measure the end of the rail you want to cap, since Trak Racer aluminium rigs also use 120x40mm and 160x40mm sections in different places on the same frame.

How many caps come in a pack?

Two, which finishes both ends of a single rail. Count the open ends on your rig before ordering.

Do they need glue?

No. They are a push fit into the end of the profile and can be pulled out again if you need to cut or reposition a rail later.
