Trak Racer Universal PC & Control Box Shelf, Oversized V2
Most sim rig PC shelves are sized for a mid tower and stop there. This one is 660.4 by 300mm of folded steel, which is enough platform for a full-size tower rather than enough to balance one on.
It bolts to aluminium extrusion rigs using two universal brackets that cover wide or narrow mounting spans, so it goes on the wheel uprights, alongside the seat, or on the rear or side of a monitor stand.
It is the extrusion-frame member of a family of three Trak Racer shelves, and picking the right one is entirely a question of what you are bolting to. It sits with the rest of the hardware mounts.
Key features
- Platform measures 660.4 x 300mm (26 x 11.8 inches)
- Folded steel construction
- Takes most mid and full-size gaming PC towers
- Two universal brackets for wide or narrow spans
- Mounts on uprights, beside the seat or on a monitor stand
- Built-in slots for optional straps
- Fits the full Trak Racer extrusion range
- Complete mounting hardware included
Sized for a real tower
Six hundred and sixty by three hundred millimetres is the specification that names this one Oversized. Against Trak Racer's cockpit-mounted shelf at 620 by 222mm, it is 40mm wider and 78mm deeper, which works out at roughly 44 percent more platform.
That is the difference between a shelf a full tower sits on and a shelf a full tower overhangs. If your case is a large ATX or a full tower, this is the one drawn for it.
Folded steel rather than flat plate is what makes that span work. The folds are the structure, and they double as a lip that stops the case walking.
Two brackets, several positions
The kit includes two universal mounting brackets covering wide or narrow installation spans, which is what lets one shelf serve rigs with quite different upright spacing.
Trak Racer name four positions: on the steering wheel uprights, alongside the seat, and on the rear or side of a monitor stand, including integrated or freestanding triple mounts.
Slots are built into the platform for optional straps. They are worth using on any rig running a strong wheelbase or a bass shaker, because anything not physically located eventually moves. Straps are not included.
Which of the three shelves you need
Trak Racer make three PC shelves and they bolt to three different things. This one is for aluminium extrusion frames, and Trak Racer list the TR200, TRA, TR160, TR120, TR80S, TR40S and TRK plus most third-party profile rigs.
If your cockpit is a TR8 Pro or an Alpine Racing TRX, those are tube frames and this shelf is not the part. The PC and Control Box Shelf for TR8 Pro and TRX is drawn for those chassis.
If you want to hang the machine off a tubular monitor stand rather than the rig, including the TR8 integrated stand, the Computer PC Control Box Shelf is the one built for that. Extrusion frame, this one. Tube cockpit or tube stand, one of the other two.
Our expert take
"Buy the shelf that matches what you are bolting to, not the one that matches your PC. All three take a tower; only one of them fits your rig, and that is the entire decision."
"The oversized platform earns its place if you own a full tower. Watching someone balance a large ATX case on a shelf two thirds its footprint, held on with a strap and optimism, is the argument for this one making itself."

Frequently asked questions
How big is the platform?
660.4 x 300mm, or 26 by 11.8 inches, in folded steel. Trak Racer rate it for most mid and full-size gaming PC towers.
Which rigs does it fit?
Aluminium extrusion frames. Trak Racer list the TR200, TRA, TR160, TR120, TR80S, TR40S and TRK, plus most third-party aluminium profile rigs and monitor stands.
Will it fit a TR8 Pro or a TRX?
No. Those are tube-frame cockpits rather than extrusion, and the TR8 Pro and TRX shelf is the shelf built for them.
Are straps included?
No. The platform has built-in slots for straps and Trak Racer recommend them, but they are bought separately.
