Trak Racer TR8 Pro Flight Simulator Cockpit
Most people buying a first flight cockpit want it standing and usable quickly, not spread across the carpet in aluminium sections. The TR8 Pro Flight is the tubular steel answer to that, and it goes together in about an hour.
The TR8 Pro Flight is Trak Racer's answer: the 2 inch tubular steel frame, supplied as a complete flight bundle with the reclining Trak Racer Flight Seat, a four-way adjustable pedal mount ready for rudder pedals, and left and right side mounts for your stick and throttle.
It sits with the rest of the flight simulator cockpits we stock, and the frame underneath is the same one that carries the TR8 Pro V2 Racing Simulator.
Key features
- Complete flight bundle with the reclining Trak Racer Flight Seat
- HOTAS cut-outs and lumbar support in the seat
- Four-way fully adjustable pedal mount, pre-drilled for rudder pedals
- Left and right side mounts for stick and throttle
- 2 inch tubular steel chassis
- Assembles in around an hour, the fastest build in the range
- Seat slider rails included
- Motion ready, base required, such as the Trak Racer TR Move platform (D-BOX actuators)
A seat built for sitting still
The seat is what separates a flight cockpit from a racing frame with a chair bolted to it. Reclining rather than fixed, cut away at the shoulders rather than bolstered, and developed with Airbus rather than adapted from motorsport.
The seat is what separates a flight cockpit from a racing frame with a chair on it. Reclining rather than fixed, cut away at the shoulders rather than bolstered, and developed with Airbus rather than adapted from motorsport.
On this frame it pairs with included seat slider rails and bucket seat brackets, so the seating position is properly adjustable from the moment it is built rather than something you add later.
Yoke, stick and rudders on a steel frame
Yokes mount to the platform on the frame itself. Trak Racer name the Honeycomb Aeronautical Alpha Flight Controls and the Logitech Flight Yoke System, both by clamp, plus the Logitech Flight Switch, Multi and Instrument panels, Logitech Heavy Equipment and the Turtle Beach VelocityOne Flight, and the Alpha and Logitech yoke fit by clamp rather than bolting through.
Rudder pedals bolt to the pedal baseplate with slider adjustment for reach and angle. Named sets are the Logitech Flight Rudder Pedals and Heavy Equipment set, the Thrustmaster T.Flight Rudder Pedals and TPR Pendular Rudder Pedals, and the Virpil Ace.
Left and right side mounts are included for stick and throttle, spanning Thrustmaster across the HOTAS Warthog and Warthog dual throttles, the T.Flight HOTAS One and 4, the T.16000M and FCS, the TCA Quadrant, Officer and Sidestick Airbus editions and the TWCS throttle; Logitech and Saitek including the X52, X52 Professional and X56, the Throttle Quadrant and the Extreme 3D Pro; Honeycomb Bravo; Virpil VPC MongoosT-50; VKB Gunfighter III; VirtualFly TQ3 and TQ6 Plus; and Hori. A centre flight stick mount is available separately if you fly something that wants the stick between your knees rather than at your side.
Steel, and built in about an hour
This is the only flight cockpit in the range built from tubular steel rather than aluminium extrusion, and the practical consequence is assembly. Where the extrusion frames are a genuine afternoon, the TR8 Pro goes together in around an hour.
Tube is also stiffer per kilo in torsion than open extrusion, which matters if the same rig races as well as flies. The wheelbase rating here is 0 to 25Nm, higher than the TR40S and TR80S flight frames.
The trade is adjustability. Extrusion lets you bolt anything anywhere along a rail; tube gives you the mounting points Trak Racer specified. For a flight setup, where the hardware positions are fairly settled, that is rarely a real constraint.
Screens and motion
Monitor mounting is optional and this frame has its own integrated single stand, along with freestanding single, dual, triple and quad options.
The TR8 Pro Flight is motion ready, with a motion base required such as the Trak Racer TR Move platform, which runs D-BOX actuators. The extrusion-based TR120S V2 and TR160 flight cockpits take motion direct-fit without a base.
Because this frame builds so quickly, it is worth setting the screens up properly at the same time. Anything beyond a single panel is better on a freestanding stand from the sim racing monitor stands.
Our expert take
"This is the flight cockpit for someone who wants to fly this weekend rather than next weekend. The steel frame also gives up very little that a flight setup actually uses, because a yoke and rudder pedals ask far less of a chassis than a direct drive wheelbase does."
"If you want a flight cockpit standing and usable the same day it arrives, this is the one. Around an hour against an afternoon is not a small difference when the alternative is a floor covered in aluminium profile and a lost Saturday."

Frequently asked questions
What makes this different to the racing version?
The frame is the same tubular steel chassis. The difference is the bundle: reclining Flight Seat, rudder-ready pedal mount, and left and right control side mounts. The TR8 Pro V2 Racing Simulator ships without a seat.
Which rudder pedals fit?
Trak Racer name the Logitech and Thrustmaster rudder pedal sets and the Virpil Ace. They bolt to the pedal baseplate and adjust for reach and angle.
Which yokes fit?
The Honeycomb Alpha and Logitech Flight Yoke System fit by clamp; Logitech panels and the Turtle Beach VelocityOne are also supported.
Can I race on it too?
Yes, and it is the strongest dual-purpose choice below the 30Nm frames. The wheelbase rating is 0 to 25Nm and the seat slider rails and bucket seat brackets are included.
Is a monitor included?
No. Monitors and stands are separate, as are rudder pedals, yokes and HOTAS controls. The stands are in the sim racing monitor stands.
