Description

The V3 kit, ready for Asetek

Asetek wheelbases mount from the front, and this kit ships with the plate that does it. You get the full TR One V3 structure plus the Asetek interface, so the wheelbase goes on without sourcing an adapter separately or working out which plate you need.

It covers the Initium and Initium+, the La Prima and La Prima+, the Forte, the Invicta and the Tony Kanaan edition. The kit itself fits the aluminium chassis rigs across the TR200, TRA, TR160, TR120, TR80S, TR40S and TRK frames.

Trak Racer TR One V3 2-Way wheel mount for Asetek wheelbases

Key features

  • Asetek front mount plate included
  • Covers Initium through to Invicta
  • 120x40mm extrusion mounting channel
  • 580mm mount width
  • Vertical or horizontal extrusion orientation
  • Angle and distance adjustment

Front mounting an Asetek base

Asetek bases are designed to hang off a front plate rather than sit on a deck, which puts the motor housing forward of the mount and keeps the space under the wheel clear. The plate in this kit is machined for that bolt pattern.

The named fitments are the Initium, Initium+, La Prima, La Prima+, Forte, Invicta and Tony Kanaan. If you own an Asetek base and are not sure which of those it is, the model name is on the underside of the housing.

Buying the kit rather than the plate

Trak Racer sells the Asetek plate on its own as well, and it is the cheaper line item, but it is only useful if you already own a TR One V3 base kit. Buying the plate alone without the base leaves you with a piece of machined aluminium and nothing to bolt it to.

If you already have the base kit fitted, the Asetek plate on its own is what you want. If you are starting from a bare cockpit, this kit is the complete answer.

Orientation and adjustment

The 2-Way name refers to how the 120x40mm extrusion is oriented, not to where the wheelbase sits. Run it vertically and you free up leg and knee clearance for a formula seating position. Turn it horizontally and you gain a broad flat span for a dashboard, a button box or a small display.

Angle and distance adjust independently of that choice, so wheel height and reach can be set for your seating position once the orientation is decided. Set the seat first, then the wheel, then lock everything down. If your cockpit already carries a wheel deck, the universal Asetek motor mount is the cheaper route to the same result.

Our expert take

"Asetek owners are usually running a serious base, and the mount is the part that decides whether you feel what the motor is doing. A front mounted plate on a rigid V3 structure is the right answer. Buy the kit rather than the plate unless you already own the base kit, because a plate on its own bolts to nothing."
