Description

Red trim for a black frame

Red against black anodised aluminium is the most legible accent combination there is, which is why it turns up on so much motorsport hardware. This 2m rubber strip presses into the open slot on a profile rig and runs a line of colour along the frame.

Underneath the styling it does a practical job. The slot it fills would otherwise be an open channel collecting dust along its entire length, and a filled slot is far easier to keep clean than an empty one.

Trak Racer 2m red rubber dust strip

Key features

  • 2m length per strip
  • Flexible high-grip rubber
  • Presses into the profile slot
  • Trims to length with a knife

Choosing where to run it

Red shows every inconsistency, so plan the run before you start pressing it in. Continuous lines along the outer top rails work better than short sections dotted around the frame, and stopping the strip cleanly at a bracket looks more deliberate than running it up to the edge and trimming it flush.

Leave the slot clear anywhere you intend to add hardware later. The hardware mounts range and any monitor or pedal mounting you add will need the channel free at that point, so trim the strip back rather than fitting around it afterwards. A blue version is available for cooler builds, and both fit the aluminium aluminium chassis rigs in the same way.

Our expert take

"Red is the accent people regret least. It reads as motorsport rather than gaming, and unlike a lighting strip it does not need power or a controller. Plan the runs first, though, because a strip that stops in a random place looks worse than no strip at all."

Frequently asked questions

Which rigs does it suit?

Any Trak Racer aluminium profile cockpit with an open slot, including the TR80, TR120, TR160, TRX and TR8 Pro. It presses in by hand.

How long is each strip?

2m. Work out the total length of slot you want to fill before ordering, keeping in mind you will leave gaps where brackets and mounts sit.

Will it come out again?

It presses in rather than bonding, so it can be pulled out if you change the layout of the rig or want to move the run.
