Same torque, rebuilt underneath
The Simucube 3 Pro is rated at 25Nm, the same as the Simucube 2 Pro. That is deliberate, and it is the point: this generation is not about more power, it is about what the base does with the power it has.
The sensor moves from 22-bit to 23-bit absolute, eight million steps of rotation. The control algorithm was rewritten from scratch, every base is laser scanned so the firmware carries a digital twin of that individual unit, and telemetry-based effects such as road texture, ABS feedback and RPM are new to the 3 series.

What the 3 series actually changes
Three things, in Simucube's own terms. The motor controller and the control algorithm were redesigned. Each wheelbase is laser scanned during manufacture, creating what they call a digital twin inside the code, which is how they tune each unit rather than each model. And the software gained telemetry-based effects, so road texture, ABS and RPM come from the game's data rather than being synthesised from force alone.
None of that shows up as a torque number, which is why the spec sheet looks familiar. Our direct drive wheelbases pages set the generations side by side.
The control box, and the safety it carries
A control box is included and it is not optional: the Simucube 3 will not switch on without it connected. It carries the torque off button, an emergency stop: press to activate and rotate clockwise to release.
It also carries an encoder, so you can adjust feedback strength and other parameters while you are driving rather than stopping to open software. The LED tells you the state of the base, including torque off, safe mode and device fault.
What you need alongside it
The Link Quick Release wheelbase side is pre-fitted. If your steering wheel is a Simucube 3 compatible model it already has the wheel side. Carrying a Simucube 2 wheel across needs the Link Quick Release, and a formula wheel on a 50.8mm bolt pattern needs the 50.8 to 70mm adapter on top.
The base runs on the Simucube Link network rather than a direct USB connection, so it needs a Simucube Link Hub. One hub serves a whole rig, and adding a second Link device such as an ActivePedal needs an Ethernet switch as well.

Frequently asked questions
Is a Link Hub included?
No. One Simucube Link Hub is required to operate, and it comes in a separate box. One hub covers every Simucube Link device on your rig.
Is it more powerful than the Simucube 2 Pro?
No. Both are rated at 25Nm. The differences are the 23-bit sensor, the rewritten control algorithm, the per-unit laser scanning and the telemetry-based effects.
Can I use my Simucube 2 steering wheels?
Yes. All Simucube wireless wheels are compatible. You will need a Link Hub for the data and a Link Quick Release for the mechanical fit.
Does it connect over USB?
Not directly. It connects by RJ45 to a Simucube Link Hub, which takes one USB port on the PC. There is no USB passthrough on the base.
