Power and data across the gap
The Link Quick Release is the Simucube 3 wheel mount, and it does something the previous generation did not: it carries power and data across the joint without contacts, using LightBridge.
Mechanically it uses P3G polygon geometry, a self-centring shape with large contact faces that spread the torque rather than concentrating it on pins. The result is a zero-play connection under the heaviest force feedback loads.

When you need to buy one
Every Simucube 3 compatible steering wheel arrives with a Link Quick Release already on it, and every Simucube 3 wheelbase has the wheelbase side pre-installed. So a matched wheel and base need nothing extra.
You buy this when you are adding a wheel that did not come with one, which usually means carrying an older rim across to a Simucube 3, or setting up a second wheel to swap.
What LightBridge does, and its limit
LightBridge is brushless and contactless, so there are no pins to wear and no cable to tangle. On a compatible wheel it carries both power and data across the joint.
The limit is worth being precise about. Those wireless features work on wheels that have the matching electronics inside. On a wheel without them, the Link Quick Release still works perfectly well as a mechanical mount, and on a Simucube 2 wheel the wireless power and data are not supported at all, though a Link Hub handles the data instead. Fitting it
Three M5x16 hex head screws and a 3mm L-key are supplied. Torque them to roughly 5Nm on the three screws that secure the part and roughly 1.2Nm on the two that hold the circuit board.
It takes a 70mm hole pattern on threaded or non-threaded wheels. A formula rim on a 50.8mm pattern needs Simucube's 50.8 to 70mm adapter as well. Our quick releases pages cover the Simucube 2 equivalent if you are on the older base.

Do I need to buy this separately?
Only if your wheel did not come with one. All Simucube 3 compatible steering wheels ship with a Link Quick Release, and the wheelbase side is pre-installed on every Simucube 3.
Will it work with my Simucube 2 wheel?
Mechanically yes. The wireless power and data transfer is not supported on Simucube 2 wheels, and a Link Hub handles the data instead.
What bolt pattern does it take?
70mm, on threaded or non-threaded wheels. A 50.8mm formula wheel needs Simucube's 50.8 to 70mm adapter.
