Description

PXN SF-U H-Pattern 7+1 Shifter

The PXN SF-U is an H-pattern shifter with seven forward gears and reverse, built in aluminium alloy. It adds a proper manual gearbox to your setup for road cars, classics, rally and truck sims, where paddles do not give the same feel.

Each gear sits in its own guided slot, so the lever drops cleanly into gear, and a 16-bit angle sensor reads its position. Seventh and reverse are push-down gears, which keeps them away from the gears you use most.

It connects to a PC by USB, or plugs straight into a compatible PXN wheel base. It is part of the PXN sim racing range.

Key features

  • 7+R H-pattern layout
  • Slot-guided gate for clean gear changes
  • Push-down seventh and reverse gears
  • 16-bit angle sensor
  • Aluminium alloy housing
  • USB to PC, or direct to PXN wheel bases
  • Works on PS4 and Xbox through supported PXN bases
  • Slotted base flanges for bolting to a rig or stand

A slot-guided 7+R gate

The SF-U uses a slot-guided gate, so the lever follows a defined channel into each gear rather than floating across an open plate. That makes it easier to find the right gear without looking, and harder to miss a shift under pressure.

A 16-bit angle sensor reads the lever position, so each gear registers cleanly in game.

How seventh and reverse work

Seventh and reverse are both push-down gears. To select reverse, bring the lever back to neutral, press it down, and move it across into the sixth-gear slot. This differs from many shifters, where reverse sits in its own position, so it takes a few laps to learn.

The push-down action makes reverse harder to select by accident on a quick downshift. Pair it with the PXN Vector X Clutch Pedal or another clutch from our sim racing pedals range for a full three-pedal manual setup.

Connect to PC or a PXN wheel base

On PC, the SF-U connects by USB-A to USB-C and works alongside any wheel on Windows 7 to 11, showing up as its own device.

It can also plug straight into a PXN wheel base by RJ11 or USB-C. That route supports the PXN V10, V99 and V12 Lite on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, and all PXN VD-series wheel systems on PC.

Our expert take

"The SF-U gives you a full 7+R H-pattern gate in an aluminium housing, and the slot-guided gate makes it easy to find gears by feel. For PXN wheel owners, plugging it straight into the base is the simplest way to add a manual shifter, including on console."

"Two things to know before you buy. The push-down reverse takes a little getting used to, and console support only works through a compatible PXN base. It also bolts down rather than clamping, so plan to fit it to a rig or a wheel stand with a shifter plate."

Frequently asked questions

Will the PXN SF-U work with my wheel?

On PC, yes. Connected by USB it works alongside any wheel on Windows 7 to 11. For console, it needs to plug into a PXN V10, V99 or V12 Lite wheel base. See our sim racing shifters for other options.

Does it work on PlayStation or Xbox?

Yes, when connected through a PXN V10, V99 or V12 Lite wheel base, which support PS4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. It does not connect directly to a console on its own.

How do I select reverse?

Move the lever back to neutral, press it down, then move it into the sixth-gear slot. Seventh is also a push-down gear.

How do I mount it?

The SF-U has slotted mounting flanges on its base for bolting to a rig or a wheel stand shifter plate. PXN does not list a desk clamp with it.

Which PXN shifter should I choose?

The SF-U is an H-pattern shifter for road cars, classics and trucks. For rally, touring and GT cars, the PXN SF-SMG Sequential Shifter is sequential only, and the PXN SF-SH H-Pattern and Sequential Shifter switches between H-pattern and sequential in one unit.

How big is it?

It measures about 172 x 107 x 231mm and weighs about 1.55kg.

What warranty does the PXN SF-U have?

It is covered by a 12-month manufacturer warranty, supported locally by the Gamer Gear Direct team.
