Description

MOZA MA3F Electronic Flight Control Module (Left)

The MOZA MA3F Electronic Flight Control Module (Left) is the Captain's EFIS expansion panel for the MA3F EFCM system, adding the left-side glareshield EFIS controls to an existing MA3F Airbus cockpit build. It handles the Captain's barometric reference, Flight Director, ILS display, MTRS, Navigation Display mode, and ND range — the standard A320 left EFIS function set — as physical hardware that operates independently of the on-screen cockpit. The module connects to the MA3F EFCM FCU module via RJ11 daisy chain without requiring an additional USB connection to the PC.

In expansion mode, the Left module can be assigned to additional aircraft system controls beyond its standard EFIS functions. Transponder code entry, weather radar settings, APU master and start, windshear warning, TCAS mode, and aircraft lighting controls can all be mapped to the Left module through MOZA Cockpit, extending the range of cockpit interactions accessible from the glareshield panel without reaching to a separate overhead or pedestal unit. All configuration runs through MOZA Cockpit alongside the FCU module and the optional MA3F EFCM (Right) module.

Key features

  • A320-style Captain's EFIS control panel for the left side of the MA3F glareshield layout
  • Controls barometric reference (QNH/STD), FD, ILS, MTRS, ND mode, and ND range for the Captain's position
  • Expansion mode unlocks additional aircraft system controls including transponder, weather radar, APU, TCAS, and lighting
  • Connects to the MA3F EFCM FCU module via RJ11 daisy chain without requiring additional USB connections
  • Independently adjustable character backlighting and button status lighting
  • Real-time telemetry synchronisation through MOZA Cockpit for cohesive cockpit lighting across all connected modules
  • VESA 75×75mm mounting, included mounting plate, and aluminium profile rig compatibility
  • Compatible with all MA3F EFCM-supported Airbus aircraft including Fenix, FlyByWire, Toliss, and iniBuilds

How the EFCM (Left) module expands the MA3F glareshield

The MA3F EFCM FCU module covers the centre autopilot panel — speed, heading, altitude, and vertical speed with push-pull knob engagement. What it does not cover is the EFIS panels that sit to either side of the FCU on the real A320 glareshield. In a real A320, the left EFIS panel gives the Captain direct control over what the Navigation Display shows and how it is oriented, the barometric setting for the Captain's altimeter, and whether the Flight Director and ILS guidance are active on the Captain's side. For a simmer flying solo from the left seat, the Left module is the EFIS panel they interact with on every single flight.

The Left module places those controls in front of the pilot as physical hardware alongside the FCU module. ND mode changes, range adjustments, barometric updates, and FD toggle all happen as physical switch and rotary inputs without moving the mouse to the on-screen EFIS. For most single-pilot Fenix A320 and FlyByWire A32X simmers who fly from the Captain's seat, the Left module is the natural first EFIS expansion purchase after the FCU module — it covers the controls the simmer uses directly on every departure, cruise, and approach. Paired with the Right module, it completes the full A320 glareshield FCU and EFIS layout as physical hardware.

MOZA MA3F Electronic Flight Control Modules (Left)

Captain's EFIS controls in the A320 context

In a real A320, the left EFIS panel is positioned to the left of the FCU on the glareshield and is operated by the Captain throughout the flight. The barometric reference selector allows the Captain to set QNH or STD on the Captain's altimeter, a control that is used at the transition altitude on every departure and approach. The FD button toggles the Flight Director guidance bars on the Captain's PFD. The ILS button calls up ILS guidance on the Captain's ND during an instrument approach. The ND mode and range selectors control what the Captain's Navigation Display shows — ROSE, ARC, or PLAN modes, and ranges from 10 to 320 nautical miles — which changes regularly throughout a flight from the high-range cruise view down to the close-range approach configuration.

In simulation, all of these controls exist on the rendered EFIS panel inside the cockpit but require a mouse click each time they are used. The Left module moves every one of those interactions to a physical panel in front of the simmer, matching how the Captain operates the real aircraft. In expansion mode, MOZA Cockpit allows the Left module's controls to additionally manage transponder code, weather radar tilt and gain, APU, TCAS mode, windshear warning, and aircraft lighting — extending well beyond the standard EFIS function set into systems that would otherwise require navigating to the overhead panel.

MOZA MA3F Electronic Flight Control Modules (Left)

MOZA Cockpit integration and connection

The Left module connects to the MA3F EFCM FCU module via the RJ11 port in a daisy chain. No additional USB connection to the PC is required. The FCU module handles the single USB connection for the entire chain, meaning the Left module, the FCU module, and the optional Right module all communicate through one PC USB port. MOZA Cockpit manages the Left module's control assignments, backlighting, telemetry synchronisation, and expansion mode configuration alongside all other connected MA3F hardware in the same session.

VESA 75×75mm rear mounting on the Left module is compatible with the MOZA Adjustable Desktop Clamp, standard desk clamps, aluminium profile rig attachments, and wall mounts. The included mounting plate allows the Left module to be positioned at the correct angle relative to the FCU module for a clean, accurately proportioned glareshield layout. Backlighting adjusts independently across character illumination and button status indicators, with MOZA Cockpit telemetry sync keeping the lighting matched to the in-sim cockpit environment across all connected modules.

MOZA MA3F Electronic Flight Control Modules (Left)

Our expert take

The Left module is the first EFIS expansion most MA3F EFCM owners will want, and for good reason — it covers the Captain's EFIS controls that the simmer interacts with directly on every flight. Having the barometric reference, FD toggle, ILS, and ND mode and range as physical controls rather than on-screen mouse clicks is an immediate improvement to how the aircraft is operated from pushback to shutdown. Add the Right module for the complete glareshield layout, and the MA3F FCD for physical MCDU input, and you have a desk-mounted Airbus cockpit that covers the full range of procedural interaction.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the MA3F EFCM (Left) compatible with the MA3F EFCM FCU module?

Yes. The Left module is designed as a direct expansion for the MA3F EFCM FCU module and connects via the RJ11 daisy-chain port. It requires the FCU module to function and cannot operate as a standalone device.

What does the left EFIS module control in Airbus simulation?

The Left module covers the Captain's EFIS controls: barometric reference (QNH/STD), Flight Director (FD on/off), ILS display toggle, MTRS, Navigation Display mode (ROSE/ILS, ROSE/VOR, ROSE/NAV, ARC, PLAN), and ND range (10 to 320 nautical miles). In expansion mode these controls can additionally manage transponder, weather radar, APU, TCAS, windshear warning, and lighting.

Should I buy the Left module or the Right module first?

For most simmers flying solo from the Captain's seat, the Left module covers the EFIS controls used most frequently and is the natural first EFIS expansion after the FCU module. The Right module adds the First Officer's EFIS panel and completes the full glareshield layout when both are installed.

How does the Left module connect to the FCU module?

The Left module uses an RJ11 cable to connect to the FCU module's RJ11 expansion port. No additional USB connection to the PC is required. All modules in the chain are managed through a single MOZA Cockpit session via the FCU module's USB connection.

What is expansion mode on the Left module?

Expansion mode allows the Left module's controls to be reassigned to additional aircraft systems beyond the standard left EFIS function set. Through MOZA Cockpit, the controls can manage transponder code entry, weather radar tilt and gain, APU master and start, windshear warning, TCAS mode, and aircraft lighting — systems that would otherwise require reaching to the overhead panel or centre pedestal.

What aircraft are compatible?

The Left module is compatible with all aircraft supported by the MA3F EFCM system: Fenix A320/A321/A319 and FlyByWire A32X in MSFS 2020 and 2024, and Toliss A320/A321/A319 and iniBuilds A320/A330 in X-Plane 11 and 12.

What mounting options are available?

The Left module includes a mounting plate and supports VESA 75×75mm mounting, aluminium profile rig integration, and standard desk clamp solutions including the MOZA Adjustable Desktop Clamp.
