Trak Racer TR40S Racing Simulator Cockpit
The TR40S is the way into a proper aluminium profile cockpit rather than a wheel stand pretending to be one. It is the lightest and least expensive rig Trak Racer build, and it is a real extruded frame with real mounting plates, not a folding chair with a clamp.
Where it sits in the range is defined by one number: Trak Racer rate it for wheelbases from 0 to 10Nm. That covers belt-driven wheels and the entry tier of direct drive comfortably, and it is the honest ceiling of this frame.
Buy it as the frame, the wheel mount and the pedal plates. Seat, monitor stand and electronics are chosen separately, which is what keeps it at the bottom of the racing simulator cockpits while still being a rig you can build on.

Ten newton metres, stated honestly
The torque rating is the specification that should decide this purchase, and it is the one most entry rigs are vague about. Trak Racer are not: the TR40S is rated 0 to 10Nm.
That is genuinely enough for a belt-driven wheel or an entry direct drive base, which is what most people pair with a first cockpit. It is not enough for a 20Nm or 30Nm unit, and a frame asked to hold one will tell you so through the wheel.
If you already own something stronger, or you expect to inside a year, start at the TR80S instead. Spending less on a frame you will replace is the most common expensive mistake in sim racing.
What you actually get
Included: the chassis, the wheel mount, the pedal mount, floor-protecting rubber feet, cable ties, coloured dust strips, every screw, bracket and fixture, and an assembly tool kit.
Not included: the seat, the seat brackets, the seat slider, the shifter mount, the monitor stand, the wheelbase and the pedals. This is a frame, and it is priced as one.
The pedal plates are carbon steel rather than aluminium, and they mount flat, high or angled, so a heel-down GT position or a raised formula-ish position are both available even though this model has no true hybrid system. Browse the racing seats for a shell to go with it.
Small footprint, light frame
Assembled it occupies 660 by 1200mm and weighs 24.8kg. Both figures are the smallest in the Trak Racer range, and on a rig that often lives in a bedroom or a shared study that matters more than any spec sheet line.
Light also means movable. At under 25kg one person can reposition it without dismantling anything, which is not true of the 41kg TR160 or the 89kg TRX.
The trade for the light frame is the torque ceiling. Mass and stiffness are related, and 10Nm is what 24.8kg of 40mm profile honestly supports.
Where it sits against the rest
The TR40S is the only rig in the range with no formula and GT hybrid pedal option at all. The TR80S includes that system as standard, and the TR120S V2 and TR160 V5 offer it as an upgrade.
It is also motion ready, but like the TR80S, the TR8 Pro and the TRX it needs a motion base such as the Trak Racer TR Move platform, which runs D-BOX actuators. Only the TR120S V2 and TR160 V5 take motion without that base.
None of that makes the TR40S the wrong rig. It makes it the right rig for a belt-drive or entry direct drive setup at the lowest price Trak Racer offer, and the wrong one for anything above 10Nm.
