Description

The three actuator layout, ready to go

Three actuators is the layout a lot of experienced drivers land on. Two at the front doing the work you feel through the wheel and the pedals, one in the centre at the rear carrying the pitch. It is a genuine step up from two without the cost of four.

This is the TR Move platform supplied with the centre motor bracket that layout needs, plus the four corner brackets and the pivot, so the same base also covers two and four actuator setups if you change your mind. D-BOX Gen 5 actuators are a separate purchase.

Trak Racer TR Move motion platform base for three D-BOX actuators

Key features

  • Fits D-BOX Gen 5 actuators
  • Centre rear motor bracket included
  • Also covers two and four actuator layouts
  • Four corner actuator brackets included
  • Motion platform pivot included
  • All mounting hardware and tools supplied

What the centre bracket changes

A corner bracket holds an actuator at the edge of the platform. The centre rear motor bracket holds one in the middle of the rear rail instead, on the centreline of the rig. That single part is what turns a four corner platform into a three actuator platform.

It can be fitted at the front instead of the rear if your cockpit layout suits that better. The geometry is the same either way, and the platform is drilled for both.

Three against two and four

Two actuators give you pitch and roll with the supplied pivot carrying the other end. Four give you the same axes with more authority and a more even load path. Three sit in between and, for a lot of drivers, are the sweet spot, because the axis you feel most in a car is pitch under braking and a rear centre unit handles that directly.

If three is more than you need, the two or four actuator base is the same platform without the centre bracket. The rest of the motion simulators range covers the complete packages if you would rather buy the actuators and the base together.

Which cockpits it carries

The platform is universal. It supports the TRX, TR8, TR8 Pro, TR80, TR80 Lite, RS6, TR120 and TR160, as well as cockpits from other brands, because it works from underneath rather than bolting into a particular frame.

That also means it outlives a chassis upgrade. If you move from a profile rig to a tube frame later, the platform and the actuators come with you. Our racing simulator cockpits pages set out which frames are which if you are planning ahead. Our motion simulator packages cover the same platform supplied with the actuators and controller already in the box.

Our expert take

"If you are choosing between two and four and finding the decision impossible, three is usually the honest answer. The rear centre actuator is doing the axis you actually notice, which is pitch under brakes, and you are not paying for a fourth unit that mostly duplicates its neighbour. Buy this base rather than buying the four corner base and the add-on bracket separately."
