Description

The platform your actuators bolt to

Actuators do not attach to a cockpit on their own. They need a rigid platform underneath that spreads the load, holds them square to each other and keeps the whole rig moving as one piece. That is what the TR Move base is.

This is the base kit on its own. It carries D-BOX Gen 5 actuators in a two actuator or a four actuator layout, and it ships with the platform, four actuator brackets, a pivot and all the mounting hardware. The actuators themselves are a separate purchase.

Trak Racer TR Move motion platform base for D-BOX actuators

Key features

  • Fits D-BOX Gen 5 actuators
  • Two or four actuator layouts
  • Four actuator brackets included
  • Motion platform pivot included
  • All mounting hardware and tools supplied
  • Suits Trak Racer and other brand cockpits

Two actuators or four

A four actuator layout puts one unit at each corner. You get pitch, roll and heave, and it is the configuration most people picture when they think about a motion rig.

A two actuator layout puts both units at one end of the platform and the supplied pivot at the other. The pivot takes the load and lets the platform rock, so you still get pitch and roll from half the actuator count. The same kit covers both layouts, so you can start with two and add the other two later without buying a second platform.

If you want three actuators

A three actuator setup sits between the two. Two units at the front, one in the centre at the rear, on a bracket that mounts to the middle of the platform rather than a corner. This base does not include that centre bracket.

There are two ways to get there. The three actuator version of this base is the same platform supplied with the centre motor bracket already in the box. If you already own this base and want to add a third unit later, the third actuator bracket kit is the add-on component for exactly that.

What it bolts under

The platform is universal by design. It carries the full TRX, TR8, TR8 Pro, TR80, TR80 Lite, RS6, TR120 and TR160, as well as cockpits from other brands, because it works by supporting the cockpit from below rather than bolting into a specific frame geometry.

That matters if you are not planning to stay on your current chassis forever. The actuators and the platform survive a cockpit change, which is not true of motion solutions that integrate into one frame. Our motion simulators pages cover the rest of the range if you are still deciding. Our motion simulator packages pair the platform with the actuators if you would rather buy the whole thing at once.

Our expert take

"People underestimate how much of a motion setup is the platform rather than the actuators. Actuators that are not held square to each other fight one another, and you feel it as vagueness rather than as a fault. Buy the platform that matches the actuator count you actually want, and if there is any chance you will go from two to four, this is the one, because it already has the brackets."

Frequently asked questions

Are the actuators included?

No. This is the platform base on its own, cut and drilled for D-BOX Gen 5 actuators. The actuators and their controller are a separate purchase.

Can I run three actuators on this base?

Not without the centre motor bracket, which is not part of this kit. Either choose the three actuator version of the base, or add the third actuator bracket kit to this one.

Does it fit a cockpit that is not a Trak Racer?

Yes. The platform supports the cockpit from underneath rather than bolting into a specific frame, so other brands of racing and flight cockpit sit on it.
