Reclines, and it is not a bucket
Not every sim rig wants a fixed back bucket. The RE2 is a reclining seat on a welded tubular steel frame, with a dual side locking mechanism that lets you set the backrest angle and change it whenever you like.
This is the vivid white version in diamond stitched PU leather over cold moulded foam. It bottom mounts rather than side mounting, which is the arrangement most reclining seats use. It fits the tube frame cockpits including the RS6, TR8 Pro, TRX, Porsche 91XTR and Carbon Fibre TRX, and the aluminium profile range covering the TR200, TRA, TR160, TR120, TR80S, TR40S and TRK.

Reclining versus a fixed bucket
A bucket holds you in one position, which is what you want when you are driving hard and what you notice when you are not. A reclining seat gives that up in exchange for being comfortable across a much wider range of uses, from a two hour endurance stint to sitting at the rig doing something else entirely.
It is also the sensible choice for a rig several people use. Two drivers of different heights will both find a reclining seat acceptable, where a bucket sized for one of them will not suit the other.
Steel frame, not a composite shell
The RE2 is built on a welded tubular steel frame rather than a fibreglass or carbon shell. That is what makes the recline mechanism possible, since a moulded bucket has no way to hinge.
It also changes how it is warranted. The frame carries a longer term than the upholstery, which is the usual arrangement for a seat where the covering is the part that wears. The rest of our racing seats range covers the fixed back shells if you would rather have a bucket.
Bottom mounting
The RE2 bolts from underneath rather than hanging between side brackets. That means a different bracket set to a bucket seat, and it sits your hips higher than a side mounted shell would.
The adjustable recline seat brackets are the matching part and add angle adjustment on top of the seat's own recline. If you do not need that, the fixed version does the mounting job without it.
Our expert take
"Reclining seats get overlooked by people who think a bucket is automatically more serious. If your rig lives in a shared space, or two people use it, or you sit at it for reasons other than racing, a recliner is the better seat and it is not close. Buckets are better for one driver who only races."
