Description

Trak Racer RS GT Rally-Pro Fibreglass Racing Seat

A fixed-back bucket does one thing a reclining seat cannot: it holds you still. There is no recline mechanism to flex, no pivot to introduce movement, just a rigid shell that keeps your body in the same place through a long stint.

This is the rally-profile version, with deeper bolsters than a GT shell and a lightweight, ultra-rigid fibreglass construction under high-density foam.

It is a side-mount seat, harness ready, and it sits with the rest of the racing seats we carry.

Trak Racer RS GT Rally-Pro fibreglass racing seat shown complete

Key features

  • Lightweight ultra-rigid fibreglass shell
  • Rally profile with deep side bolsters
  • High-density foam padding
  • Double stitched with high-strength nylon thread
  • Reinforced high-contact points
  • Side-mount compatible
  • Harness ready
  • Wear-resistant, UV-resistant and easy-clean coating

Rigid is the point

Fibreglass is the material of choice in real motorsport bucket seats for the same reason it works here: it is stiff for its weight and it does not flex under load. Nothing in the shell moves, so nothing in you moves either.

That matters more with a strong wheelbase. High torque direct drive feeds real force back through your arms and into your torso, and a seat that gives even slightly means you are bracing against the seat rather than reading the car.

The rally profile takes that further with deeper bolsters, which hold the shoulders and hips through the lateral loads a rally stage or a long left-hander puts on you.

Built to be sat in for hours

Rigid does not have to mean uncomfortable. High-density foam is what makes the difference: it holds its shape over a long session rather than compressing flat, which is how cheaper seats become uncomfortable after forty minutes.

The stitching is double stitched in high-strength nylon with reinforcement at the high-contact points, which are the bolster edges you slide across every time you get in and out. That is where a sim seat fails first.

The coating is wear-resistant, UV-resistant and easy to clean, which matters if the rig sits anywhere near a window or gets shared.

Mounting and fit

This is a side-mount seat, so it fixes at the sides rather than underneath. That is the single most important compatibility fact when choosing between this and a reclining seat, because the two are not interchangeable on a given frame. Seat sliders are sold separately and are in the seat mounts and sliders.

Trak Racer give a recommended waist range of 28 to 44 inches. Compatible frames include their tube frames, the RS6, TR8 PRO, TRX, Porsche 91XTR and Carbon Fibre TRX, and their extrusion frames, the TR200, TRA, TR160, TR120, TR80S, TR40S and TRK, plus other branded rigs.

Supported motion systems include D-BOX, Sigma Integrale and Qubic Systems, subject to cockpit and platform configuration. If you want a reclining seat instead, the RE2 Dual-Lock Reclining Seat is the alternative.

Our expert take

"If you run high torque direct drive, a fixed-back fibreglass shell is worth the loss of recline. Every reclining mechanism is a hinge, and a hinge under load is movement you feel as vagueness in the car rather than as movement in the seat."

"Check side-mount against your frame before anything else. Side and bottom mounting are not interchangeable, and it is the most common reason a seat arrives and will not go on the rig it was bought for."
