Description

Trak Racer Premium Sim Rig Floor Mat with RGB Light

Rig lighting usually means a strip stuck to the back of a monitor, throwing colour at a wall nobody is looking at. Putting it around the base of the cockpit is a better idea, because the light outlines the thing you actually want to look at.

This is the 1800 by 900mm mat with an optic fibre trim running the edge. Switched on it glows and cycles through colours; switched off it reads as a clean dark border.

It does the same job as the plain mat underneath, stopping the rig creeping and protecting the floor, and it sits with the rest of the racing simulator accessories.

Key features

  • Measures 1800 x 900mm
  • Optic fibre RGB trim around the edge
  • Cycles through colours when switched on
  • Reads as a clean dark border when off
  • Sized to sit under a full cockpit
  • Protects floorboards, tiles and carpet
  • Helps stop the rig creeping under braking
  • Defines the rig footprint in a dark room

Lighting that outlines the rig

An illuminated floor outline does something a light strip behind a screen cannot: it gives the cockpit a defined edge in a dark room. That reads well in person and it photographs extremely well, which is why these turn up in every rig build video.

The trim is optic fibre rather than an LED strip, so the light runs continuously around the perimeter instead of appearing as a row of dots.

Switched off it is not a compromise. The trim reads as a dark border, so the mat still looks deliberate in daylight.

Handle the edges carefully

This is the one thing to know before ordering, and Trak Racer are emphatic about it. The optic fibre trim can be crushed if a rig is rolled or set down directly on the edge, and crushed fibre does not recover.

The rule is simple: lift the rig over the edge rather than rolling it on. If your cockpit is on casters, that means lifting or walking it in from a corner rather than pushing it across the trim.

Once it is in position this is not an ongoing concern. It matters at installation and any time you move the rig, which for most people is twice.

Or the plain version

If you would rather not manage that, the Premium Neoprene Sim Rig Floor Mat has the identical 1800 by 900mm footprint in plain neoprene with embroidered logo edges and nothing to crush.

Both do the same structural job. The choice is purely whether you want the lighting and are willing to be careful with it.

The rest of the cockpit range is in the racing simulator range.

Our expert take

"This is the one that makes a rig look like a build rather than a piece of furniture. The continuous optic fibre edge is the reason: it outlines the footprint instead of spraying colour at a wall, and in a dark room that is a genuinely different effect."

"Take the crushing warning seriously. We have seen rigs rolled straight onto the trim on day one, and once the fibre is flattened that section stays dark. Lift it over, every time."

Frequently asked questions

How big is it?

1800 x 900mm, or roughly 70.9 by 35.4 inches, the same footprint as the plain neoprene mat.

Can the lighting be turned off?

Yes. Switched on it glows and cycles through colours, and switched off the trim reads as a clean dark border.

Is the edge fragile?

The optic fibre trim can be crushed permanently if a rig is rolled or placed directly on it. Lift the rig over the edges rather than rolling it across them.

What is the difference to the plain mat?

Same size and same floor protection. The plain neoprene version has no lighting and no edge to protect, so it is the safer choice if the rig moves often.
