Some joints cannot tolerate a fastener head standing proud. A sliding plate has to pass over it, a part has to sit flat against it, or a hand has to run across it. The flat head on this screw is shaped to sit flush with the surface rather than on top of it.
It is M8 x 20mm, the standard length for mounting directly to profile, supplied in a pack of five for the handful of positions on a rig that need it.
The flat head seats into the surface so nothing stands above it. That is what allows another part to sit directly on top of the joint, and it is why these turn up on plates and decks rather than on general bracket work.
Because the head is shallower than a standard hex, it relies on the fastener being hardened to carry the same load. Do not substitute a soft flat head screw into a position that specified a hardened one. For general fixing where nothing has to sit flat, a standard hex head from our M8 x 20mm set of twenty is the right choice, and the hardware mounts range covers the brackets they fix. Both head types are kept in our racing simulator accessories range so you can match the fastener to the joint.
"Flat head screws are worth having in the drawer, but only use them where flush actually matters. A standard hex head gives you more to grip and more head to spread the load, so it is the better default everywhere else."

Five.
Only if nothing needs to sit flat over the joint. If a plate slides across the fastener or a part must seat against it, the head height of a standard hex screw will get in the way.
