Force feedback is vibration, and vibration undoes fasteners. A direct drive wheelbase running at high torque puts a constant cycle of load reversal through every joint between it and the floor, and over enough hours a plain bolt will work loose.
A lock washer sits under the head or nut and resists that. These are M8, made from high-strength steel, and supplied in a set of ten so you can do the joints that matter in one session.
Anything in the load path between the wheelbase and the chassis, anything holding a pedal deck, and anything carrying a monitor. Those are the joints that see either high torque or a long lever arm, and they are the ones that come loose first.
You do not need one on every fastener on the rig. Trim parts, cable clips and cosmetic brackets are fine with a plain flat washer. Concentrate them where the loads are, and check the tension on those joints after the first few sessions with any new direct drive wheelbases. They are one of the cheapest items in our racing simulator accessories range and among the most worth having.
