A solid floor under your pedals
Most sim rigs are built on carpet, and carpet is the enemy of a consistent brake trace. Your heel sinks, the pedal plate sits at a slightly different angle every session, and the muscle memory you spent months building has to be relearned every time you sit down. The Trak Racer Heavy-Duty Sim Floor removes that variable entirely by giving your feet a rigid steel-grade reference surface bolted directly to the chassis.
It spans 580mm across the front of the cockpit and runs 400mm deep in 3mm diamond plate, which is thick enough that it does not drum or flex under a load cell brake. Because it fixes to the frame rather than resting on the floor, it moves with the rig, so a cockpit on castors keeps the same footwell geometry wherever you roll it. It fits into the wider racing simulator accessories lineup as one of the few upgrades that changes how the rig feels rather than how it looks.
Key features
- 3mm diamond plate construction
- 580mm wide by 400mm deep
- Raised tread pattern for grip
- Bolts to 8mm slot aluminium profile
- Complete M8 and M6 fastener set included
- Suits cockpits with a 500mm inner chassis width
Why a fixed heel reference matters
Every braking input you make is calibrated against where your heel sits. On carpet or a rug that reference point drifts, and the same pedal force produces a different pressure reading depending on how far your foot has sunk. A rigid floor gives you one repeatable contact patch, which is why trail braking becomes noticeably easier to modulate once the surface under your foot stops moving.
It matters more with a load cell or hydraulic pedal set than with potentiometer pedals, because load cell braking is measured in pressure rather than travel. If you have paired the rig with serious pedals or a direct drive wheelbases, this is the cheapest change that will make those pedals behave consistently.
Diamond plate rather than smooth sheet
The raised diamond pattern is not decorative. A smooth plate becomes slippery under a sock or a racing boot, particularly once the surface picks up any dust, and a foot that slides mid corner costs you the lap. The tread breaks that contact up so the sole grips even under hard left foot braking.
The plate also acts as a barrier between your heel and the carpet underneath, which is worth having if the rig lives in a carpeted room. Feet do not wear a patch into the pile, and spilled drinks land on metal rather than soaking into the floor.
Bolting it into the chassis
Mounting uses the existing 8mm slot in the aluminium profile, so nothing needs to be drilled and nothing is permanent. The kit ships with three M8 x 16mm hex screws, three M8 T-nuts, three M8 flat washers, three M8 lock washers, six M6 x 16mm hex screws and six M6 T-nuts, which is everything needed to fix the plate and its supports to the frame.
The T-nuts slide along the slot, so you can set the floor at whatever height suits your seating position and then lock it down. If you are running the rig on adjustable levelling legs, set the legs first and the floor second, because levelling the chassis changes the angle your feet meet the plate at.
Our expert take
"The sim floor is one of those parts that sounds like a cosmetic add on until you drive with one. Carpet under a load cell pedal set is a genuine consistency problem, and no amount of practice fixes a heel that sits at a different height every session. If your rig lives on carpet and you are running anything better than entry level pedals, this should be near the top of your upgrade list, well ahead of anything cosmetic."

Frequently asked questions
Will this fit my cockpit?
The floor is designed around a chassis with a 580mm outer width and a 500mm inner width, which covers the aluminium profile cockpits in the Trak Racer lineup built on that footprint. Measure the inner width between your two side rails before ordering. If your rig sits outside that measurement the plate will not span the gap correctly.
Do I need to drill anything?
No. All fixings use the existing 8mm slot in the aluminium extrusion via the supplied T-nuts, so the installation is completely reversible and leaves no marks on the frame.
Is the plate slippery in socks?
The raised diamond tread is there specifically to prevent that. It grips a sock, a bare foot or a racing boot, which is why the pattern is stamped rather than the plate being left smooth.
Can I use this with an inverted pedal setup?
Yes. The floor bolts to the chassis independently of the pedal deck, so it works whether your pedals are mounted conventionally or inverted. Set the floor height after the pedals are positioned so you can match the two together.
