A keyboard and mouse without a desk in the way
The gap between racing and using the PC that drives it is where most sim setups fall down. You finish a stint, need to change a setting or answer a message, and there is nowhere to put a mouse except your knee or the seat beside you. The Trak Racer Computer Mouse Shelf solves that by hanging a 200 x 240mm working surface off the side of the cockpit on a 400mm length of 40x40mm profile.
Because it mounts to the frame rather than standing on the floor, it swings into reach when you need it and stays out of the way of your elbows when you do not. It is a natural companion to the rest of the hardware mounts Trak Racer builds around its aluminium extrusion system, and it makes a cockpit genuinely usable as a workstation rather than something you have to climb out of.

Sized for a mouse and a compact keyboard
At 200 x 240mm the plate is deliberately not a full desk. It is sized to take a mouse with room to move, or a tenkeyless keyboard turned sideways, without adding so much width that you catch it with your arm mid corner. That restraint is the point. A larger shelf would foul the wheel on steering lock or force you to sit further from the rig.
The 4mm plate does not deflect under the weight of a hand leaning on it, which matters more than it sounds. A thin shelf that flexes makes precise mouse work irritating, and precise mouse work is exactly what you bought it for.
Mounting to the frame
The shelf rides on a 400mm length of 40x40mm aluminium extrusion that clamps into the 8mm slot on your chassis using the four supplied brackets. Everything you need to assemble and mount it is in the box, including the screws and nuts for the brackets.
Height and reach are both adjustable along the slot, so you can set it level with the wheel deck for typing or drop it lower so it tucks under your elbow. Left or right side is your choice, and swapping sides later is a matter of undoing four fixings.
Where it fits in the build
Most people add this at the same time they add a monitor to the rig, because the two problems arrive together. Once the screen is close enough to race on, the desk it used to sit on is no longer within reach. Cable routing is worth thinking about at the same time. A mouse cable draped across the chassis will eventually catch on something, so a set of cable management clips run along the same rail keeps the lead tidy and out of the pedal area.

Which side does it mount on?
Either. The brackets are symmetrical and clamp into the 8mm slot on the chassis, so you can fit it to the left or right of the seat and move it later if you change your mind.
Will it hold a full size keyboard?
The plate is 200 x 240mm, which suits a mouse or a compact keyboard. A full size board with a number pad will overhang the edges. Most people use it for the mouse and keep the keyboard on the wheel deck or a separate tray.
What does it clamp to?
It mounts to 8mm slot aluminium extrusion, which is the profile Trak Racer builds its aluminium cockpits and monitor stands from. Check that your rig uses 8mm slot profile before ordering.
