Description

Four points, for simulator use

A four point harness in a two shoulder, two lap configuration, for sim racing seats slotted to take one. A harness does something a lap belt cannot: it holds your shoulders back against the seat, so your upper body stays still and your arms are free to steer rather than brace.

Read the compliance note below before ordering. This harness is not ADR approved and not FIA approved, and it is intended for simulator use and other non regulated applications rather than for road or sanctioned competition use.

Trak Racer 4-point seat belt harness

Key features

  • Four point configuration
  • Dual shoulder straps
  • Dual lap belts
  • For seats slotted to take a harness
  • Available in black and red
  • Not ADR approved and not FIA approved

Compliance, stated plainly

This product is not ADR approved and not FIA approved. It is intended for simulator use, show and display vehicles, off road and private track applications, and other non regulated environments where certification is not required.

It is not intended for FIA sanctioned competition or ADR regulated road use. Always check local laws, motorsport regulations and event rules before installing a harness in any vehicle. We would rather put that at the top of the page than in the small print.

What a harness changes in a sim

Under heavy braking your body wants to keep going. A lap belt stops your hips and lets your torso fold forward, which means your arms end up taking the load. A four point harness holds the shoulders too, so your upper body stays planted and your hands stay free to do their job.

It also transforms what a belt tensioner can do. Without a harness there is nothing meaningful to tension, which is why the QS-BT1 tensioner bracket assumes one is fitted.

Trak Racer harness shoulder straps

The seat has to be ready for it

A harness needs a shell with slots cut for the shoulder straps, positioned so the belts run level with or slightly below your shoulders. A seat without them cannot take a harness safely, and improvising is not worth attempting.

Most fixed back bucket shells in our racing seats range are slotted for 4, 5 and 6 point harnesses and say so on their spec. Reclining seats generally are not. Check before you buy the harness rather than after. Plan the seat, the harness and the tensioner together rather than one at a time, and look at the wider racing simulator accessories range while you are deciding, because the mounting hardware differs by cockpit.

Trak Racer harness lap belts

Our expert take

"A harness is the accessory that most changes how a rig feels, because it stops you bracing with your arms under braking. Two things to be clear about. Your seat needs harness slots, and this belt is not ADR or FIA approved, so it belongs in a simulator rather than in a car you drive on a road or race under sanction."
