160x40mm is the deepest profile Trak Racer uses, and it turns up where the frame has to resist the most twist: the main chassis rails on the larger cockpits. Those beams have a correspondingly large opening at each end.
These ABS caps are moulded to that section and close it off completely. They come two to a pack, and because the 160x40mm sections tend to be the longest rails on the rig, one pack usually finishes one rail.
A large void is harder to cap convincingly than a small one. A loose cap on a 160x40mm section rattles under force feedback and eventually works its way out, which is why the fit is moulded to the profile rather than being a universal part stretched to suit.
Rigs built on 160x40mm rails are usually the ones carrying the most hardware, so it is worth checking the rest of the frame at the same time. Our racing simulator accessories range covers the smaller profile sizes as well as the brackets and hardware mounts that fit alongside them. The intermediate sections take the 120x40mm cap instead.
"If you are running a rig built on 160x40 rails you have bought the serious end of the aluminium range, and leaving the ends open on a frame like that is a shame. Two caps and thirty seconds finishes it."
- Blake Sterling, Founder & CEO, Gamer Gear Direct
