The wheel half, for a Simucube 2
A Simucube 2 wheelbase arrives with the wheelbase side of the quick release fitted. This is the other half, the part that bolts to the back of your steering wheel so the two can lock together.
Every steering wheel Simucube sell already has one. You need this kit if you are fitting a wheel that did not come with one, or if you want a second wheel ready to swap onto the same base.
Key features
- Wheel side quick release half
- For Simucube 2 wheelbases
- 30mm wheel spacer included
- 70mm wheel adapter included
- Supports 50.8mm and 70mm bolt patterns
- M5 bolts supplied
What the spacer and the adapter are for
The kit assembles in several configurations depending on your wheel. A 50.8mm bolt pattern can be front mounted without the spacer, or front and back mounted with it. The 70mm adapter opens up 70mm front and back mounting.
One constraint worth knowing before you plan a build: because of the diameter of the wheel side plate, the 70mm adapter cannot be used without the spacer using the hardware supplied. The spacer is recommended in any case, because it leaves more room to work the locking pin.
Fitting it to your wheel
Three or six M5 screws depending on the wheel, with a washer under each. The thread is M5 with a 0.8mm pitch if you need to source a different length, and for front mounting the right length is roughly 35 to 39mm plus the thickness of your wheel and button box.
Orientation matters. The wedge works best when it drops onto the motor shaft in an up and down motion with the wheel horizontal, and the mounting holes in the adapter and spacer let you set that. Our quick releases pages cover the alternatives.
Simucube 2, not Simucube 3
This is the Simucube 2 quick release system. Simucube 3 wheelbases use a different system, the Link Quick Release, which arrives pre-fitted on the base side and carries power and data as well as the mechanical connection.
If you are on a Simucube 3, the Link Quick Release is the part you want instead. Our racing wheel accessories range covers the rest of the wheel side hardware.
Our expert take
"Buy a second one of these the day you buy a second wheel. Leaving a quick release permanently on each rim is the whole point of the system, and unbolting one to move it across defeats the exercise and wears the threads. It is a small part next to the rim it protects."

Frequently asked questions
Does it fit a Simucube 3?
No. This is the Simucube 2 quick release system. Simucube 3 uses the Link Quick Release, which is a different part.
Is the wheelbase side included?
No, and it is not needed. A Simucube 2 wheelbase comes with the wheelbase side parts already.
What bolt patterns does it support?
50.8mm and 70mm. The 70mm adapter is included, and the kit assembles in front or front and back mounting configurations.
Do I need the spacer?
It is recommended because it gives you more room for the locking pin, and it is required if you are using the 70mm adapter with the supplied hardware.

This is the wheelbase I've been seeking and should have purchased right from the start!!
The feel is amazing, the torque, incredible!! If I want, I can turn it up so high I can't physically turn the wheel!! The main thing you don't want is to have while sim racing, is clipping, and with 25nm at my disposal, I'm not going to suffer that EVER again. The wheelside adapter made it really easy to convert my Fanatec wheel to the new base, and it's amazing.
This is a brilliant wheel base, easy to set up, and has incredible feel. 100% would recommend to anyone looking to start or upgrade.
Blake and the guys at GGD were brilliant to deal with, answered ALL my questions along the way, it is a fair investment to purchase, but they were brilliant no matter how many times I changed my mind or hit them with mundane questions about compatibility etc.
Do yourself a favour, and GET ONE!!
Easy to install, very good materials, easy to use!
There is absolutely no play. Amazing.
Simucube 2 Quick Release wheel side kit has a good build quality.
Essential to add a steering wheel to Simucube without major connection complications.
Its a Simucube 2 QR we already know theyre rock solid with absolutely no flex.
Can be a touch difficult to remove sometimes, but rather that than wobbling like a certain well known wheelbase competitors QR system.
