Description

Trak Racer Racing TRX V2 Racing Simulator, Silver Arrow

Silver Arrow is the Racing TRX V2 in bare-metal silver, a livery with a longer motorsport history than most of the colours it sits alongside. The cockpit under it is unchanged: formula to GT in minutes, 30Nm capable, 89kg of 2 inch tubular steel.

The headline capability is the changeover. Trak Racer quote 3 to 5 minutes to move the TRX between a formula driving position and a GT one, with tool-free seat changes in under 10 seconds. For comparison the TR80S, TR120S and TR160 all quote around 30 minutes, and the TR8 Pro does not convert at all.

Underneath it is 2 inch tubular steel, 620 by 1507mm assembled and 89kg on the floor. It is by a wide margin the heaviest cockpit Trak Racer build, and mass is doing real work here: it is what keeps the wheel deck still while a 30Nm wheelbase argues with your hands.

Key features

  • 2 inch tubular steel chassis
  • Formula and GT hybrid system included as standard
  • Changes between positions in 3 to 5 minutes
  • Tool-free seat changes in under 10 seconds
  • Rated for wheelbases from 0 to 30Nm
  • Pedal plate rated to 180kg of braking force
  • Four wheelbase mounting options
  • Assembles in around 2 hours

Five minutes, not half an hour

That difference is the reason the TRX exists. Half an hour is a job you plan; five minutes is something you do between races because you feel like driving something else. One gets used, the other does not.

The wheel deck, the pedal plate and the seat all move without tools. The pedal plate slides fore and aft and adjusts for height and angle, supporting raised formula, low or angled GT and inverted mounting.

Trak Racer rate the TRX pedal tray adjustability as the highest in their range, which is what a frame designed around conversion from the start looks like.

Plan the floor space before you order

This is the largest cockpit Trak Racer make and the figure people underestimate. Assembled it is 620 by 1507mm, which is a metre and a half of rig before you add room to get into it or space behind it for a screen.

At 89kg it is also not something one person repositions casually. Decide where it lives before it arrives, because moving it afterwards is a two-person job and a dismantling job if it has to go through a doorway.

The upside of that mass is that nothing moves while you drive. Ninety kilos of tubular steel does not care what a 30Nm wheelbase is doing. It is the largest thing in the racing simulator cockpits for a reason.

Colour, and what it says

Silver reads as engineering rather than as branding. It is the finish that makes the frame itself the feature, and on a rig with this much visible structure that is a reasonable thing to want.

It is also the most forgiving of the coloured finishes in a bright room. Where a saturated colour bounces light and dominates, silver takes on the room's own lighting and settles into it.

Frame, inclusions and every published figure are identical to the Racing TRX V2 in Black. Finish is the only variable.

What is in the box

Included: every chassis section, the wheel mount, the fast-adjusting pedal mount, the seat assembly with height and angle adjustment, seat slider rails, floor-protecting rubber feet and an assembly tool kit. Budget around two hours to build it.

Not included: the seat shell, the wheelbase, the wheel, the pedals and the monitor stand. Shifter and handbrake mounts are optional.

Monitor mounting is an optional integrated single stand up to 70 inches. Anything beyond that wants a freestanding stand from the sim racing monitor stands, which also keeps the load off the cockpit.

Our expert take

"Silver is the quiet choice among the colours. It gives you something other than black without turning the corner of the room into a team garage, and it suits the exposed tubular frame better than any of the saturated finishes."

"The two-hour build is honest and worth planning for. It is quicker than the extrusion rigs and considerably slower than the TR8 Pro, and doing it properly with two people beats rushing it alone."
