Trak Racer Racing TRX V2 Racing Simulator, Bull Blue
Bull Blue is the Racing TRX V2 in deep navy, the darkest of the coloured finishes and the closest to black without actually being it. Everything structural is unchanged: 3 to 5 minute formula and GT conversion, 30Nm capable, 89kg of 2 inch tubular steel.
The headline capability is the changeover. Trak Racer quote 3 to 5 minutes to move the TRX between a formula driving position and a GT one, with tool-free seat changes in under 10 seconds. For comparison the TR80S, TR120S and TR160 all quote around 30 minutes, and the TR8 Pro does not convert at all.
Underneath it is 2 inch tubular steel, 620 by 1507mm assembled and 89kg on the floor. It is by a wide margin the heaviest cockpit Trak Racer build, and mass is doing real work here: it is what keeps the wheel deck still while a 30Nm wheelbase argues with your hands.
Key features
- 2 inch tubular steel chassis
- Formula and GT hybrid system included as standard
- Changes between positions in 3 to 5 minutes
- Tool-free seat changes in under 10 seconds
- Rated for wheelbases from 0 to 30Nm
- Pedal plate rated to 180kg of braking force
- Four wheelbase mounting options
- Assembles in around 2 hours
Five minutes, not half an hour
That difference is the reason the TRX exists. Half an hour is a job you plan; five minutes is something you do between races because you feel like driving something else. One gets used, the other does not.
The wheel deck, the pedal plate and the seat all move without tools. The pedal plate slides fore and aft and adjusts for height and angle, supporting raised formula, low or angled GT and inverted mounting.
Trak Racer rate the TRX pedal tray adjustability as the highest in their range, which is what a frame designed around conversion from the start looks like.
Pedal plate, and why the rating matters
The pedal plate is rated to 180kg of braking force. That is a large number and the point of it is headroom: load cell and hydraulic pedals do not care about wheel torque, they care whether the plate under them moves.
A plate that flexes turns a repeatable brake point into an approximation, and it is hard to diagnose because the inconsistency feels like you rather than the rig.
The plate slides fore and aft with height and angle adjustment, and supports raised formula, low or angled GT and inverted mounting. Trak Racer rate the TRX pedal tray adjustability as the highest in their range, and the racing simulator accessories cover what bolts to it.
Colour, and what it says
Navy is the colour for people who want the rig to be something other than black without it announcing itself from the doorway. Under most room lighting it reads as very dark, and the blue only shows properly when light catches the frame directly.
That makes it the most liveable of the coloured options in a shared space, and the one least likely to fight with whatever else is in the room.
The specification matches the Racing TRX V2 in Black exactly. Only the paint differs.
Everything else you will need
Not included: the seat shell, the wheelbase, the wheel, the pedals and the monitor stand. The shifter mount and handbrake mount are both optional on the TRX.
Wheelbase mounting is unusually flexible, with four options: a wheel plate, a Fanatec direct drive side mount, a universal front mount and an Asetek front mount. The rating is 0 to 30Nm.
Monitor mounting is an optional integrated single stand up to 70 inches, and the freestanding stands in the sim racing monitor stands cover triples and quads.
Our expert take
"Navy is the one I suggest to people who tell me black is boring but then flinch at red. It gives you a colour that is genuinely a colour, and it still behaves itself in a lounge room."
"The 180kg pedal plate is the specification I would put alongside the torque rating in importance, and almost nobody asks about it. If you run a hydraulic brake, the plate under it decides how consistent you are."
