Description

Trak Racer GT Pro Fibreglass Racing Seat

A fixed-back bucket seat does one thing a reclining seat cannot: it holds you still. Nothing moves under braking, nothing shifts through a long corner, and every input you make starts from the same place it did last lap. The GT Pro is Trak Racer's fibreglass answer to that, and it sits with the rest of the racing seats we stock.

The shell is a lightweight, ultra-rigid fibreglass moulding in a black motorsport finish, with deep side bolsters carrying the load through braking, cornering and fast direction changes. Rigidity is the point rather than a side effect: a shell that flexes under a strong direct drive base blunts exactly the feedback you paid for.

It is a GT-focused fixed-back geometry, recommended for waists between 28 and 44 inches, and it is available as seat only or with the side-mount brackets included.

Key features

  • Ultra-rigid lightweight fibreglass shell
  • Fixed-back GT seating geometry
  • Deep side bolsters for braking and cornering support
  • Recommended waist range of 28 to 44 inches
  • Black motorsport finish, UV resistant and easy to wipe clean
  • Double stitched with high-strength nylon thread
  • Reinforced stitching at high-contact wear points
  • Side-mount compatible with most sim racing cockpits
  • Available as seat only or with brackets included
  • Suited to D-BOX, Sigma Integrale and Qubic motion platforms

Rigidity is what a fixed-back seat is actually for

The case for a fixed-back fibreglass shell over a padded reclining seat is not comfort, it is consistency. A reclining seat has a mechanism, and a mechanism has play. Under a strong direct drive wheelbase and a stiff load cell brake, that play turns into movement you feel through your hands and your feet.

The GT Pro removes it. The shell is a single rigid moulding, the bolsters locate your hips and ribs, and the whole assembly bolts to the frame rather than pivoting on it. What you get back is repeatability: the same seating position every session, and feedback that reaches you rather than being absorbed on the way.

Finished for rigs that get used, not just looked at

The finish is specified for the way sim seats actually wear. It is a wear-resistant coating designed for repeated entry and exit, UV resistant so it holds colour in a bright room or a commercial space, and smooth enough to wipe clean rather than needing shampooing.

The upholstery is double stitched with high-strength nylon thread and reinforced at the high-contact points, which are the bolster edges and the shoulder openings. Those are the places a cheap seat fails first, usually within a year of daily use.

Seat only, or with the brackets included

The GT Pro comes in two configurations. Seat only suits anyone already running side-mount brackets on their rig, or replacing an existing shell. The seat with bracket option includes the side mounts, which is the simpler choice for a new build.

Either way, seat sliders are a separate purchase if you want fore and aft adjustment, and both are in the seat mounts and sliders we carry. The shell mounts to Trak Racer tube frames including the RS6, TR8 PRO, TRX, Porsche 91XTR and carbon fibre TRX, and to the TR200, TRA, TR160, TR120, TR80S, TR40S and TRK extrusion frames, plus most other branded rigs. Motion support covers D-BOX, Sigma Integrale and Qubic Systems, subject to your platform configuration.

Our expert take

"A fixed-back fibreglass shell is the right call for anyone running serious direct drive hardware, and the GT Pro covers that without stepping into carbon fibre money. The deep bolsters and the rigid shell are doing the real work here, not the finish."

"Two things to check before ordering. The recommended waist is 28 to 44 inches and a fixed bucket has no adjustment in it, so that range is a genuine constraint rather than a guideline. And it is a fixed-back seat, which means no recline at all, so if the rig is shared with someone who wants to sit upright for truck sim and laid back for GT, a reclining seat will suit them better."

Frequently asked questions

Does it include the mounting brackets?

It depends which configuration you order. The seat only option is the shell on its own, and the seat with bracket option includes the side mounts. Seat sliders are separate in both cases, and you can find them in the seat mounts and sliders.

What size driver does it suit?

Trak Racer recommends a waist of 28 to 44 inches. A fixed-back bucket has no adjustment in the shell itself, so that range matters more than it would on a reclining seat. Measure before ordering.

Will it fit my rig?

It is side-mount compatible with Trak Racer tube frames including the RS6, TR8 PRO, TRX, Porsche 91XTR and carbon fibre TRX, and with the TR200, TRA, TR160, TR120, TR80S, TR40S and TRK extrusion frames. Most other branded rigs work as well, and you can compare against the racing simulator range if you are still choosing a cockpit.

Does it work with a motion platform?

Yes. Trak Racer lists support for D-BOX, Sigma Integrale and Qubic Systems, subject to your cockpit and motion platform configuration. Ask us if you want a specific combination confirmed.

Can I recline it?

No. This is a fixed-back seat by design, which is what gives it its rigidity. The seating angle is set by how the brackets mount it to the frame rather than by any mechanism in the shell.
