Thrustmaster TPR Pendular Rudder
The Thrustmaster TPR (Thrustmaster Pendular Rudder) is a full-size rudder system for PC flight sims. Its suspended PENDUL_R mechanism moves like the pendular rudders found in real aircraft, giving smooth, fluid travel with realistic dimensions.
Magnetic H.E.A.R.T sensors on the rudder and both differential toe brakes give 16-bit resolution on each axis, so even very small inputs are captured.
It is part of the Thrustmaster range.
Key features
- PENDUL_R suspended rudder mechanism
- H.E.A.R.T magnetic sensors on 3 axes
- 16-bit, 65,536 values per axis
- Rudder plus left and right toe brakes
- Pedal angle adjusts to 5 positions, 35 to 75 degrees
- Adjustable spring positions for resistance
- Metal differential brake pedals
- For under a desk or in a cockpit
- Realistic full-size dimensions
- T.A.R.G.E.T programming software on PC
PENDUL_R: a pendular rudder mechanism
The TPR is built around Thrustmaster's exclusive PENDUL_R technology, a suspended mechanism that keeps rudder movement smooth and fluid. Combined with the magnetic sensors, it delivers precise control even for very small corrections on approach or in formation.
Magnetic precision on every axis
H.E.A.R.T HallEffect AccuRate Technology uses 3D Hall effect magnetic sensors on the rudder and on the left and right differential brakes. Each axis gets 16-bit resolution, which Thrustmaster quotes as 65,536 values and 0.005 degrees of precision.
Because the sensing is magnetic and frictionless, accuracy does not drift over time.
Set it up the way you fly
Spring positions can be changed to adjust resistance, with two springs included. The pedals themselves adjust to five positions at angles between 35 and 75 degrees.
The TPR can sit under a desk or be mounted in a flight sim cockpit, and suits military or civil flight, solo or in formation.
One profile for your whole setup
The free T.A.R.G.E.T software on PC combines the TPR with other Thrustmaster devices so they are recognised as a single USB device, and lets you load or build profiles for each game.
If you want a more compact option, the Thrustmaster T.Flight Rudder Pedals (TFRP) are a smaller rudder in the same range. See all our rudder pedals.
Our expert take
"The TPR is the rudder we point serious PC pilots to when they want pedals that feel like an aircraft rather than a racing set. The pendular motion is smooth and the magnetic toe brakes make taxiing and crosswind landings far more controllable."
"It is large and heavy at around 7kg, so make sure you have the floor space under your desk or a cockpit to mount it. It is PC only."

These pedals are wonderful. However, there is an issue where they will disconnect from USB. I've had it happen and others have reported the same problem for them as well. Unplugging them and plug them back in and they will reconnect. You can do this in MSFS2020 and they will be fine again, for a while. Just pause the sim, unplug them and plug them back in is annoying, but works to get them active again. It doesn't happen every flight, but it does happen. Other than that, these are great. Sturdy, heavy, well made. Adjustable and very smooth inputs. Hopefully there will be a firmware update to correct the disconnection problem.
Assembly is minimal and adjustability allows nearly all users to be comfortable. Has brake function and rudder/nose wheel steering control that feels like the real thing. Because of the expense, be sure your flight simulation program that can use all its functions.
Very realistic. You fly with your heels on the floor and your toes on the tips of the pedals and when you need the wheel brakes you put your whole foot on the pedals to stop just like real life. You can make very fine inputs and have a lot of control. Hovering in helicopters and holding the centerline while taxing, taking off, and landing in airplanes is a joy.
These pedals are so much better then the other plastic ones out there. Amazing how much better, solid metal construction and ease of use.
Imo one of the few outstanding high end pedals. The feel is amazing.
