Max Flight Stick R22/44 Pro Max
The Max Flight Stick R22/44 Pro Max is a complete set of Robinson R22 and R44 helicopter controls for PC and Mac flight sims: a cyclic, a collective with twist throttle and a set of anti-torque pedals. It is the eighth generation of Max Flight Stick Robinson controls, designed by pilots who reference the real aircraft they fly.
Every axis reads through Hall effect sensors and a 12-bit analogue to digital converter, across 5 configurable axes: cyclic X and Y, throttle, collective and rudder. Six custom pistons load the controls, and the travel on the cyclic, collective and pedals is modelled on the real helicopter.
This is the metal version, with the grips and collective printed in industrial-grade aluminium. It connects with a single USB cable and works with DCS, every version of Microsoft Flight Simulator and X-Plane, Prepar3D, FlightGear and War Thunder.
Key features
- Eighth-generation Robinson R22/R44 replica controls
- Grips and collective printed in aluminium
- Hall effect sensors on every axis
- 12-bit analogue to digital conversion
- 5 configurable axes
- 6 push buttons, trigger and hat on the cyclic
- Flip switch on the twist throttle
- 6 custom pistons load the controls
- Damped friction on the twist throttle
- Plug and play over a single USB connection
Hall effect precision on all 5 axes
Cyclic pitch and roll, collective, throttle and rudder all read through Hall effect sensors. They measure position magnetically rather than through a contact track, so there is nothing rubbing inside the sensor to wear or drift over time.
The cyclic grip carries 6 push buttons, a trigger and a hat switch, enough to keep trim, radios and views under your hand while you hold a hover. Each axis can be assigned and calibrated in Windows or directly in your sim.
Piston-loaded controls with real travel
Six custom pistons give every control input a weighted, progressive feel instead of a free-swinging stick. Travel distances on the cyclic, collective and pedals follow the real Robinson, which matters when you are building muscle memory for a hover or an autorotation.
The twist throttle has its own damper inside the collective, giving it realistic friction, and a flip switch sits at the throttle grip. The whole set is adjustable all round to suit your seat and posture. Browse our helicopter controls for more rotorcraft hardware.
Solid metal anti-torque pedals
The rudder section uses solid metal pedals running on Japanese-made ball joints and ball bearings, with two of Max Flight Stick's own pistons providing the resistance. The result is smooth, consistent pedal movement for holding heading in the hover and coordinating turns.
Cyclic, collective and pedals share one frame with several mounting options, and setup is straightforward: plug in the single USB connection, calibrate the axes and assign them in your sim.
Our expert take
"The R22/44 Pro Max is built around one aircraft family, and that focus is its strength. Hall effect sensing on all five axes, piston-loaded controls and a damped twist throttle give a Robinson trainer the weight and travel a desktop stick cannot, which is why sets like this end up in flight schools as well as home sims."
"Be clear on two things before you buy. It is a floor-standing set that needs its own space in front of your seat, and the T-bar cyclic and collective are laid out for the Robinson, so pilots flying other types may want a different configuration. It works on PC and Mac only."

Frequently asked questions
Which helicopters is the R22/44 Pro Max designed for?
It replicates the Robinson R22 and R44, including the T-bar style cyclic, collective with twist throttle and anti-torque pedals. The axes are fully assignable, so you can fly other helicopters with it, but the layout and feel are Robinson.
Which simulators does it work with?
Max Flight Stick lists DCS, every version of Microsoft Flight Simulator and X-Plane, Prepar3D, FlightGear and War Thunder, plus any PC flight sim that accepts a USB game controller.
Does it work on Xbox or PlayStation?
No. It is built for PC (Windows XP through to Windows 11) and Mac, connected with a single USB cable.
Is this the metal or resin version?
Gamer Gear Direct sells the metal version only. The grips and collective are made by industrial-grade powder metal printing in aluminium.
How many axes and buttons does it have?
5 configurable axes (cyclic X and Y, throttle, collective and rudder), plus 6 push buttons, a trigger and a hat switch on the cyclic and a flip switch on the twist throttle.
Can I adjust it to fit my setup?
Yes. The controls are adjustable all round and the frame has several mounting options. See our flight simulator controls for the rest of your setup.
