Description

Max Flight Stick Huey Max

The Max Flight Stick Huey Max is a complete set of UH-1H helicopter controls for PC and Mac: cyclic, collective and anti-torque pedals on one aluminium frame. It is the eighth generation of Max Flight Stick UH-1H controls, developed and tested with a current UH-1H commander who visited their workshop.

Dimensions are taken from the actual aircraft, and every axis reads through Hall effect sensors and a 12-bit analogue to digital converter. Six custom pistons, set up with force data provided by the military, load the cyclic, collective and pedals.

This is the metal version, with the grips and collective front box printed in industrial-grade aluminium. Choose a single engine collective, or the twin engine variant with a twin throttle collective for multi-engine Hueys.

Key features

  • Eighth-generation UH-1H replica controls
  • Developed with a current UH-1H commander
  • Hall effect sensors on all 5 axes
  • 12-bit analogue to digital conversion
  • 6 pistons tuned with military force data
  • Cyclic: 3 buttons, dual-stage trigger, hat switch
  • Collective: 4 switches, button, trigger, hat
  • Solid metal anti-torque pedals on ball bearings
  • Single or twin engine collective
  • Plug and play over a single USB connection

Built from the real UH-1H

Every dimension on the Huey Max is taken from the actual aircraft, from the curved cyclic to the collective head. The set has had all-round material reinforcement since version 4.0 to handle rough, heavy flight inputs.

The cyclic carries 3 push buttons, a dual-stage trigger and a hat switch. The collective head adds 4 switches, a push button, a trigger and a second hat switch, so the controls you need in the hover are where the real ones are.

Piston-loaded feel from military force data

Six custom pistons give the cyclic, collective and pedals a weighted, hydraulic feel, using force data provided by the military. The latest generation improves both the hydraulic feel on every axis and the range of adjustment.

Hall effect sensors read the cyclic X and Y, throttle, collective and rudder axes without contact, so there is nothing inside the sensor to wear. Browse our helicopter controls for more rotorcraft hardware.

Single or twin engine, adjustable all round

The single engine variant has one twist throttle on the collective. The twin engine variant adds a twin throttle collective for flying multi-engine Hueys with independent engine control.

Like the real aircraft, the set is adjustable all round. The rudder section uses solid metal pedals on ball joints and ball bearings, with two of Max Flight Stick's own pistons providing the resistance.

Our expert take

"The Huey Max is about as close as a home cockpit gets to a UH-1H without building one from airframe parts. Aircraft-sourced dimensions, a pilot-developed layout and piston loading tuned with military force data make it a serious tool for DCS Huey pilots and rotary trainees alike."

"It is a floor-standing set, so plan the space in front of your seat, and the layout is specific to the UH-1H. Pick the twin engine variant only if you fly twin-engine Hueys, as it adds a second throttle you will not otherwise use. It works on PC and Mac only."
