Both use 21-bit encoders and NexGen 4.0 force feedback. The primary differences are torque output (9Nm R9 V3 vs 12Nm R12 V2) and the enhanced active cooling system on the R12 V2. The additional torque on the R12 V2 is most noticeable in sustained high-load cornering and under hard braking. Most casual to intermediate sim racers find the R9 V3 more than sufficient. The R12 V2 suits drivers who want more feedback headroom and plan to run the hardware over many years without an upgrade.

If you’re starting out in direct drive or upgrading from an entry-level belt-driven wheel, the R9 V3 will comfortably exceed what you’re used to and give you several years of headroom to develop. If you’re already experienced with direct drive hardware, want to invest in a setup you won’t outgrow, or spend a lot of time in high-downforce cars in sims like iRacing or Assetto Corsa Competizione, the R12 V2 is worth the step up.

Yes. The MOZA R3 Xbox Bundle is officially licensed for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, making it the only wheelbase in the MOZA direct drive range with native Xbox support. All other MOZA wheelbases are PC only.

Encoder resolution determines how finely the wheelbase tracks steering position. A 15-bit encoder (R3, R5) provides 32,768 steps per revolution. A 21-bit encoder (R9 V3 and above) provides 2,097,152 steps per revolution. Higher resolution means smoother force feedback and finer detail in low-amplitude signals. The R3 and R5 represent a clear improvement over any belt or gear driven wheel. The step to 21-bit at the R9 V3 is noticeable in the quality of fine detail, particularly road texture and early grip loss signals.
