A motorsport seat, not a gaming chair

The shape is the point. A race shell wraps the ribs and holds the hips, so you are braced by the seat rather than by your hands on the wheel. In a car that is about staying put under lateral load. On a rig it means you stop propping yourself up and your inputs get cleaner.

That bracing matters most under the brake. Push hard into a load cell pedal and something has to take the reaction, and if the seat lets you slide backwards it is your leg doing the work instead of the pedal. A seat with real bolsters and a fixed shell makes a heavy brake repeatable.

The QRT range

QRT is the mounting standard the range shares, so the seats bolt in the same way and the choice comes down to fit rather than fitment. Shell size, how deep the bolsters sit and what the shell is made from are the three things that separate one from the next.

Widths differ more than the photos suggest, so measure across your hips and check the figure on the product page for the model you are looking at rather than working from the family name. If you are between two, the roomier one is the better call for long stints. The wider racing seats range covers the other brands we stock.

Fitting one to your rig

Sparco seats mount on side rails, and most cockpits are drilled for a standard rail spacing, so the usual job is bolting the rails to the seat and the seat to the frame. Aluminium profile frames are the easiest because the slot lets you slide the position rather than committing to a drilled hole.

Check two things before you order: the rail spacing your cockpit expects, and the room behind the frame at full travel. A deeper shell sits you further back than the seat it replaces. Tell us what frame you run and we will confirm it fits rather than leaving you to work it out.

Gloves and socks

Sparco make driver kit as well as seats, and the two pieces worth having on a rig are the Hypergrip gloves and the Hyperspeed socks. Gloves keep the friction constant on a suede or Alcantara rim once your hands warm up, which is the point at which most people start losing the wheel.

The socks put a grip sole between your foot and the pedal face for the same reason. Both sit in the wider sim racing gloves and sim racing socks ranges if you want to compare them against the other brands before choosing.

Will a Sparco seat fit my cockpit?

Almost certainly, because the range uses standard side rail mounting and most frames are drilled for it. Aluminium profile frames are the most forgiving since the position slides. Tell us which frame you have and we will confirm before you order.

Are these car seats or sim racing seats?

They are motorsport seats, and Sparco builds variants aimed at simulator use as well as ones intended for a car. Which category a given model falls into is stated on its own product page, so check there rather than assuming from the range name.

What size should I order?

Measure across your hips and compare it to the width given on the product page. Shell widths vary more across the range than the photos suggest. Between two sizes, take the roomier one, because a seat that pinches after an hour is a seat you stop using.

Do I need a harness with one?

Not for a simulator. The shell and bolsters do the holding on a rig, and most people run without. The harness slots are there because these are motorsport seats, not because a rig requires one.

Can I recline it?

Depends on the model. Fixed-back shells do not recline at all, which is normal for a race seat, while others offer adjustment. The product page says which, and it is worth checking if you use the rig for anything other than driving.

Is it covered by warranty in Australia?

Yes. We are an authorised Sparco dealer, so the manufacturer warranty applies and support is handled here rather than through an overseas returns process, alongside your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
