Direct Drive Wheel for PS5: Best Options in Australia Right Now
|
|
PS5 sim racing has one important hardware reality: the pool of native direct drive wheels is small. Unlike PC, where every brand and every torque level is on the table, PS5 restricts your options to wheels with official PlayStation licensing. That's not a bad thing - the two options that exist are genuinely excellent. Here's a complete look at what's available in Australia right now.
Only two direct drive wheelbases in the GGD range are natively compatible with PS5: the Logitech RS50 and the Logitech G PRO Wheel. Both carry official PlayStation 5 licensing, both work on PS4, Xbox Series X/S and PC from the same base, and both deliver genuine direct drive force feedback.
What about MOZA? MOZA's wheelbases do not currently support PS5. MOZA has indicated PS5 support is planned, but at the time of writing it is not available. For PS5 sim racers, Logitech is the direct drive ecosystem.
The RS50 and G PRO are differentiated primarily by price and performance level. The G PRO is typically $500-$600 more than the RS50 - a meaningful gap that makes the choice reasonably clear for most buyers.
The RS50 Bundle is the entry point to PS5 direct drive. 8Nm of torque, TRUEFORCE haptic feedback, native PS5/PS4/Xbox/PC support, RS50 round wheel rim and RS pedals all included. Saves $59-$159 versus buying components separately. For PS5 sim racers who want to get into direct drive without the G PRO price tag, the RS50 Bundle is the right starting point. Read our full Logitech RS50 Bundle review for the complete breakdown.
The G PRO Bundle is the premium PS5 direct drive setup. 11Nm of torque, a more feature-rich wheel rim with rear quick release and integrated USB hub, and G PRO load cell pedals included. The extra torque delivers more force feedback detail and nuance than the RS50 - more road texture, more nuanced vehicle behaviour through the wheel. Read our Logitech G PRO Wheel review for the full breakdown.

Yes - and this is one of the most common questions we get from PS5 sim racers. Both the RS50 and G PRO Wheel are natively multi-platform: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S and PC all work from the same base. If you start with a PS5 setup today and move to PC racing in the future, your Logitech wheel comes with you. No compatibility issue, no new hardware required.
MOZA's wheelbases do not currently support PS5. MOZA has indicated PlayStation support is in development, but there is no confirmed timeline for when it will be available. For now, if you're on PS5 and want direct drive, Logitech is the clear path.
Pedals: The RS50 Bundle includes RS pedals, which are a capable entry set. Upgrading to the Logitech G PRO Pedals adds load cell braking and is fully compatible with both RS50 and G PRO bases.
A rig: A dedicated sim racing cockpit makes a real difference to pedal feel and force feedback consistency. See our Best Sim Racing Rig guide for options at every budget.
Games: Gran Turismo 7, F1 25, EA WRC, Assetto Corsa and Wreckfest all support PS5 direct drive wheels natively.
The Logitech RS50 and Logitech G PRO Wheel are the only native PS5-compatible direct drive wheels in the GGD range. Both work on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S and PC from the same base.
Not currently. MOZA wheelbases do not officially support PS5 at the time of writing. MOZA PlayStation support is planned but not yet available. For PS5, Logitech is the direct drive ecosystem.
Both deliver excellent PS5 direct drive. The G PRO is $500-$600 more and steps up in torque (11Nm vs 8Nm), wheel rim features, and includes load cell pedals. If budget is a consideration, the RS50 is an excellent wheel. The extra spend on the G PRO buys meaningful upgrades but the RS50 is far from a compromise.
Yes. Both the RS50 and G PRO Wheel are natively multi-platform. Starting on PS5 and switching to PC later requires no new hardware - the same base works on both.
Yes - Gran Turismo 7 on PS5 supports the Logitech RS50 and G PRO Wheel natively with full force feedback. It's one of the best direct drive experiences available on console.
