A pedal that pushes back
A load cell pedal measures how hard you press. An active pedal decides how hard it should be to press, moment by moment, and changes it while you are driving. That is the difference here, and it is a different category of thing rather than a better spring.
The ActivePedal Pro produces up to 1100N, which is 110kg of force, with 74mm of travel. Because the resistance is generated rather than sprung, it can reproduce ABS pulses, a brake that fades as the discs heat, or the softer pedal of a car with a different master cylinder, all from the same hardware.

What active feedback gives you
Force feedback in a pedal means the resistance curve is software rather than steel. You can set a long soft pedal for a road car and a short firm one for a GT3, and switch between them by loading a profile rather than changing a spring pack.
It also means effects. ABS comes through as a real pulse against your foot, and RPM and other telemetry effects can be mapped to the pedal. These depend on the game producing the telemetry and on Tuner supporting that title.
Adjustment, in hardware and in software
The pedal face moves 22mm in height and the pedal angle adjusts through 18 degrees, so the physical position fits your leg before you touch a setting. Travel runs from 5mm to 74mm.
Two passive pedal inputs are built in, which is how a throttle and a clutch join the system without their own electronics. The Simucube Co-Pedal is designed for exactly those ports. Our sim racing pedals pages cover the rest of the range.
What it needs to run
A Simucube Link Hub. Simucube are explicit that one is required to operate the ActivePedal Pro and that it comes in a separate box, to the point that there is a product option named without one. A single Link Hub serves every Simucube Link device on your rig, so a second pedal does not need a second hub.
Adding a second ActivePedal does need an Ethernet switch, because the hub itself has one device port. The power supply is included, and the pedal draws 10 to 100W in average use with a 280W peak.
Mounting it
Six M5 slots, and a fastener set with M5 bolts, washers, nylock nuts and t-slot nuts for 8mm slot aluminium profile is supplied along with a hex key. It bolts straight to a profile rig without extra parts.
Simucube also sell a baseplate as an optional item, which they describe as easing installation and improving ergonomics rather than being required. Our racing simulator accessories range covers the surrounding hardware.

Is a Link Hub included?
No. One Simucube Link Hub is required to operate the ActivePedal Pro, and it comes in a separate box. One hub covers every Simucube Link device on your rig.
Is this one pedal or a set?
One pedal. It has two passive pedal inputs so a throttle and a clutch can be added to the same system.
Can it be a throttle rather than a brake?
Simucube sell separate throttle and brake pedal face plates for it. The pedal itself is the active unit and the face plate sets how it is used.
What do I need for a second ActivePedal?
An Ethernet switch, because the Link Hub has a single device port. You do not need a second hub.
